NFL Free Pick: Giants vs. Rams Betting Odds & Handicapping Preview

Week 16: New York vs St. Louis Expert Preview

Sunday afternoon action in the NFL will feature a match up between the New York Giants (5-9) and the St. Louis Rams (6-8). Cappers Picks will provide free NFL picks all season.

If either of these teams played in the NFC South they’d have a real shot at making the post season, unfortunately that is not the case and neither of them will be appearing in the playoffs this year.

Both of these two are just playing out the rest of the string here as their playoff hopes have been gone for some time.

This is likely the last season Tom Coughlin will be the head coach of the Giants as his team will fail to make the post season yet again and will finish will a losing record for the second straight year.

Giants

It’s been a frustrating season for the G-Men who have shown flashes of brilliance at times this year after a 3-2 start. The wheels really fell off in a 27-0 loss to the Eagles when they were everyone’s pick to win and they were completely dominated and lost star wideout Victor Cruz for the season.

Receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has taken the torch and run with it as Eli Manning’s top target and this team will be fun to watch and explosive on offense next year when Cruz returns. Unfortunately it was just too little too late.

The Giants have won two straight to get themselves back to a somewhat respectable record of 5-9 and could end with the same 7-9 record that they did a year ago.

Eli Manning has been the bad Eli more often than not this year with 13 interceptions and four lost fumbles. It’s not quite the disaster from a year ago when Manning was picked off a ridiculous 27 times, but he just hasn’t been able to do enough to get this team over the hump.

Rams

How are the Rams 6-8? That question can be interpreted in a few ways. On one hand you could say wow the Rams are almost a .500 team and are doing that with whatever scraps they can throw in at QB. On the other hand this team has wins over the Seahawks, Broncos and 49ers so how have they only won three other games after beating three quality opponents?

Bottom line, the offense has just been way too inconsistent. One week they’re racking up 52 points on the Raiders and two weeks later can only muster six points at home against the Cardinals.

On defense this team is quietly very solid and rank in the top 12 in total yards, pass yards and rush yards allowed per game and are 13th in the NFL in points allowed per game.

Some more consistency on offense to compliment a solid D core could have this team with their record flipped at 8-6 as losses to Minnesota and an Arizona team with a third string QB are real eye sores.

Week 16 Giants vs. Rams 4* Free Pick

This one is kind of a toss up in my mind. The Giants have beaten a few weak opponents their last two weeks with wins over Tennessee and Washington, and the Rams are definitely a step up in level of competition.

I just have a hard time believing in a team that lost to Jacksonville and I think the Rams are a better team and have shown the ability to blow teams out this year.

Go with St. Louis to cover.
