NFL Division Preview – AFC West

In our quest to be the ONLINE LEADER in NFL Gambling & NFL Handicapping information we’re way out ahead of the rest with our 2010 Divisional Previews for all 8 NFL divisions.

We will be covering the entire off season for each team and giving you a preview of the upcoming 2010 season with updates from now through kickoff of Week 1 of the NFL 2010/2011 Season.

NFL Futures – AFC West is a Lock for the Chargers

The AFC West features three of the weakest teams in the AFC making NFL Futures betting rather easy. The San Diego Chargers will have a disappointing loss in last year’s playoffs to motivate them this season. Nothing less than a Super Bowl appearance will be acceptable for the Chargers.

The “battle” for second, third and fourth in the division will be interesting – the teams fighting it out have improved but not enough to unseed the mighty Chargers.

San Diego Chargers -350

The San Diego Chargers have the luxury of returning most of their stellar squad this season. Philip Rivers will once again lead the likes of Vincent Jackson, Malcolm Floyd and Antonio Gates in one of the most feared passing offenses in the AFC. Darren Sproles returns as the feature back this time but newly drafted Ryan Matthews figures to be in the mix as well.

The Chargers get to play Denver Oakland and Kansas City two times during the season making them as close to a lock as there is to win their division.

Denver Broncos +600

Remember Denver’s 6-0 start last season? Don’t count on it again! With the trade of Brandon Marshall in the off season, it is official that the Broncos have no threats in their passing game. This team is going to have to depend on a defense that crumbled toward the middle and end of last season. Elvis Dumervil, Champ Bailey and Brian Dawkins make them formidable, but it is not nearly enough to challenge for the division title.

Second place is more like it.

Kansas City Chiefs +750

The Kansas City Chiefs arguably made the most improvements to their team during the off season but players were not the focus. The Chiefs hired Coaches Charlie Weiss and Romeo Crennel to complete their New England Patriot Alum coaching staff.

With Matt Cassell at QB and Jamaal Charles ready for a breakout season, KC could surprise, but a .500 season is about all that can be expected.

A bad defense and leaky Offensive Line still exists.

Oakland Raiders +750

Stop the presses  -Oakland made a good off season move! That`s right, the Raiders cut Jamarcus Russell finally and brought in Jason Campbell who will instantly make them a better team. Campbell should bolster the NFL`s worst Offense that averaged 12 points per game last season and make the team at least competitive. Oakland still has a terrible Offensive Line and nobody outside of Zach Miller and Darius Heywood Bey to keep opposing Offenses honest in the passing game.

Improved – Yes, contender – no!

The San Diego Chargers are clearly the class of the AFC West. They should run away with the division and not be pushed at all.

This is an easy bet folks, the Chargers all the way!

Think the Chargers can’t start of bad another year and expect to change it around come the second half. This will be an interesting year in the AFC West. The Broncos even without Marshall I think will still be in the mix. Oakland should be much better without the “bust” at qb. The Chiefs, not really sure about them 4-5 wins.
