Things haven’t quite turned out the way Matt Leinart and Vince Young figured they would back when these two were first-round draft picks in 2006.

Both have fought injuries, inconsistency and an inflated sense of self-worth for the last three years, and both have been in an out of starting jobs. But they now enter 2010 the No. 1s on their respective teams, and for as long as they stay in the game in tonight’s matchup in Tennessee, it will provide some interesting insight into which way the future of each might play out.

Leinart has had some stops and starts in Arizona, but the stops have outnumbered the starts. He had the job nailed down before an injury opened the door for Kurt Warner to take over, and we all know how that ended.

That door has now opened again, courtesy of Warner’s retirement (the joke in Glendale is that the wrong QB called it quits), and now he gets what his basically his third bite at the apple. Sports Betting at Sportsbook.com

Fans in the desert are hoping against hope that Leinart is ready to set aside his party-boy lifestyle and actually do the work (on the field and in the film room) necessary for success in the NFL. That’s a coin flip right now.

What is certain is that the Cardinals will not ask Leimart to carry them the way Warner did. Arizona has talked for the last half-decade about being a more balanced offensive team, and now they say they really, really mean it. The loss of Anquan Boldin means more double-teams and maybe even triple-teams for Larry Fitzgerald, and probably a lot more carries for Beanie Wells.

One thousand, six hundred and eighty miles to the east, the Titans have QB concerns of their own. Young did a nice job of bailing out the team in 2009 after its horrendous 0-6 start, but his unorthodox scrambling style has the front office wondering if he really is the long-term solution.

They have so much money invested at this point, though, that they’ll have to give him the keys to the car for at least another half-season.

Cardinals vs. Titans MNF Prediction – Best bet here is to take Tennessee and lay the 3.5. Jeff Fisher likes to win exhibition games, especially at home – and they lost their first one.

37 is a key number in betting totals, but the under is the play here as both teams try to protect QBs and get their ground games in order before the key third exhibition.
