Listed below is the NFL 2011 Dallas Cowboys schedule and some insider NFL handicapping info.

2011 Regular Season Opponents

Sun, Sept. 11 @ New York Jets That electric Cowboys RB Felix Jones only had one TD last season is criminal. Some say that Jones has lost quickness, but Dallas must do a better job of getting him into space. That might be tricky against the stingy Jets in the season opener.

Sun, Sept. 18 @ San Francisco This was once a great rivalry, but Troy Smith is decidedly not Joe Montana or Steve Young. If Dallas plays like they can and gets back on track after a miserable 2010, this is the Cowboys’ game.

Mon, Sept. 26 WASHINGTON The first home game in the mega-stadium taking place on Monday night? This is exactly why Cowboys players feel self-entitled.

Sun, Oct. 2 DETROIT Lions pivot Matt Stafford has to really work his ass off to show that he’s actually worth some of that $60-odd million Motown invested in him. This cannot be a long-term effective team with Shaun Hill at the helm.

Sun, Oct. 9 BYE

Sun, Oct. 16 @ New England This is always an extremely tough road game, but at least it won’t be snowing in Gillette Stadium yet. The Pats are great, but Dallas has the talent to pull the upset if it is firing on all cylinders. Field general Tony Romo and targets like Miles Austin and Jason Witten should be able to make sweet music in the passing game.

Sun, Oct. 23 ST. LOUIS St. Lou QB Sam Bradford is emerging on the scene quickly, which is bad news for Dallas’ patchwork secondary. It’s a good thing Bradford has no one daunting to throw to… yet.

Sun, Oct. 30 @ Philadelphia Like Ron Burgundy and Wes Mantooth, these two teams flat-out hate each other. The Eagles had a field day against the Cowboys “D” last season and that must be shored up if Dallas wants any success.

Sun, Nov. 6 SEATTLE If the Seahawks brought some lattes and some software and some MSNBC and some Soundgarden LPs on their road trip to transplant in Texas, you’d really have a well-rounded state.

Sun, Nov. 13 BUFFALO Is it wrong that I still find what Dallas did to Buffalo in consecutive Super Bowls in the early 1990s hilarious? More to the point, the Cowboys should win this game, and must.

Sun, Nov. 20 @ Washington True, the Dallas secondary is a work in progress, but Rex Grossman tossing to Anthony Armstrong isn’t going to strike fear in even an NCAA defense. Dallas must find someone to cover Santana Moss, however.

Thurs, Nov. 24 MIAMI The Cowboys have to think they match up well with the Dolphins. If they want to wrest control back in the NFC East, they have to capitalize on the sure things.

Sun, Dec. 4 @ Arizona Ditto.

Sun, Dec. 11 NEW YORK GIANTS Another division rival that has elicited gory blood-matches in recent seasons, Dallas must disrupt the rhythm of Eli Manning’s engineering, with elite pass rusher DeMarcus Ware or with someone else.

Sat, Dec. 17 @ Tampa Bay This could be a really tough road contest, but if Dallas can deploy Jones more effectively like I said earlier, they stand a good chance of winning.

Sat, Dec. 24 PHILADELPHIA Playing Philly twice every season is something few teams would envy. Hopefully Dallas doesn’t see too much of the back of WR DeSean Jackson’s jersey.

Sun, Jan. 1 @ New York Giants Dallas started its 2011 season in the Big Apple, it will end there too. But will Dallas be experiencing postseason football this coming season? Conventional wisdom says no, but throw conventional wisdom out the window when examining America’s Team.
