The real concern for Iowa right now is their offense — the Hawkeyes offense needs to start putting up more points and commit fewer turnovers if they want to remain undefeated.
QB Ricky Stanzi has been on and off so far this season, throwing 10 TD and 8 INT (3 of which were returned for touchdowns this season). To make his job even harder his receivers have been having trouble staying healthy.
The upside is the Hawkeyes’ defense as they rank 3rd in total defense in the Big Ten Conference and number one against the pass. They’ve got several playmakers recording 15 interceptions in the season so far.
In my opinion, forcing turnovers has been their key to winning 10 in a row dating back to last season — their longest win streak since a 20-game run from 1920-23 and their best start since 1985. The Hawkeyes’ defense will try to take advantage of Wisconsin’s offensive line, which struggled in a 31-13 loss at Ohio State on Saturday.
Wisconsin’s best weapon to win will be their running game as they rank 21st in the nation. RB John Clay will be their go to guy, having collected 641 yards so far in the season with 7 TD.
Badgers QB Scott Tolzien threw two interceptions that were returned for TD and he was sacked a total of six times last week against Ohio State.
The Hawkeyes have won five of their last seven meetings against Wisconsin, including a 38-16 victory last season.
My pick: Upset by Iowa.
