Coach: Bob Stoops
2008 Record: 12-2

The OU boys from Norman will again be right there in a slobberknocking Big 12 South. The Sooners represented the division in the Big 12 title game last season, when they rolled Missouri, but then went on to lose to Florida in the national championship. In a bizarre off-season, quarterback Sam Bradford (a Junior) joins Tim Tebow and Colt McCoy (both Seniors) as dominant pivots choosing to return this season.

Gambling Odds from Betus.com to win BCS: +500

Last season’s Heisman winner Bradford will again command the troops with characteristic efficiency. Bradford will have a less-experienced receiving corps to throw to, but the duo at running back (DeMarco Murray and Chris Brown) and unbelievable veteran tight end Jermaine Gresham will soften the blow.
In consecutive years Oklahoma recruited two top-ranked defensive tackle prospects in Gerald McCoy and DeMarcus Granger. Both – particularly McCoy – are dominant when healthy.

The linebackers are veterans and look for the athletic Joseph Ibiloye to snag a starting safety position; he saw some time at linebacker in the spring.

Team Strengths
Any offense run by Bradford will be a well-oiled unit. Coach Stoops has his finger on the pulse of this program, with a 109-24 record in 11 seasons. Also, look for a highly productive backfield with Bradford, Murray and Brown.

Team Weaknesses
The offensive line took some heavy losses in 2009. Tackle Trent Williams is the only returning starter from the best O-line in the country in 2008. The Sooners also lose their punter and returner on special teams.

Oklahoma has the talent to again make plenty of noise – even in the last game played in January. However, expect Texas to represent the South in the Big 12 Championship this time around.

2009 Oklahoma Sooners Record Prediction: 11-2
