The Pittsburgh Panthers will try and remain undefeated in the Big East when they tangle with the Connecticut Huskies this upcoming Thursday night. Kickoff from Rentschler Field in Hartford is set for 7:30 p.m. and the game will be broadcast live on ESPN.

Pitt was off last week after taking out Louisville 20-3 on Oct. 30. The Panthers covered as a 9 ½ point home favorite and the total stayed well ‘under’ the 56 point line. The win raised their record to 5-3 straight-up and 4-2-2 against the spread. Pittsburgh continues to control its destiny for a Big East title with a 3-0 record in the conference while all seven other teams currently have two losses.

The Panthers’ defense has been the strength of this team, giving up an average of just 19 points per game which ranks it 20th in the country. The offense is led by sophomore QB Tino Sunseri, who has completed 141-of-214 attempts for 1,672 yards. He has passed for 12 touchdowns and has only thrown four interceptions. WR Jon Baldwin leads the team with 33 receptions for 546 yards and four TD’s. The ground game is led by RB Ray Graham, who leads the team in rushing with 685 yards on 94 carries and has eight touchdowns.

Connecticut finally picked up a quality win by hanging on to beat West Virginia 16-13 in overtime this past Friday night. The Mountaineers fumbled the ball away four times in this game with the most costly coming on the one-yard line in their first possession of overtime. The Huskies covered as a 4 ½ point home underdog and the total stayed ‘under’ the 43 ½ point line. They are currently 4-4 both SU and ATS on the year and have a 1-2 record in the conference. NFL Betting

UConn has relied upon its defense and a strong ground game in the majority of its victories. The Huskies are ranked 38th in the nation in points allowed; giving up an average of 21.4 points per game. Their rushing offense is also ranked 38th in the nation averaging 174.8 yards per game. RB Jordan Todman leads the team with 954 rushing yards on 174 carries and has nine rushing touchdowns.

Pittsburgh is 6-4 SU in its last 10 games and 6-2-2 ATS. The Panthers are 1-2 SU and 1-0-2 ATS in their last three road games. The total has gone ‘over’ in six of their last 10 games overall.

Connecticut is 6-4 SU and 4-6 ATS in its last 10 games. The Huskies are 5-0 SU and 4-1 ATS in their last five games played at home. Five games have gone ‘over’ the total line while the other five have stayed ‘under’ in their last 10 overall.

Head-to-head, these two teams have evenly split the last six games of this series SU and UConn holds a slight 4-2 edge ATS. Last season the Panthers won 24-21 but the Huskies covered as 6 ½ point road underdogs. The year before, Pitt was a one-point road underdog and won going away 34-10.

Pittsburgh appears to be the strongest team in a Big East Conference that is the weakest of all the major conferences in college football. The Panthers have been on an offensive roll lately, winning their last four games by a combined total of 95 points. Look for them to continue this domination in this game as well.
