NCAAF Betting Picks – Virginia vs. UConn

The Virginia Cavaliers and the Connecticut Huskies will be looking to win Saturday when they meet at Rentschler Field. Sportsbooks currently have the Huskies listed as 10½-point favorites

Huskies Look For 2-0 Start against Mediocre Cavaliers

The Connecticut Huskies (2-0, 0-0 Big East), squeaked by the Temple Owls on the road on Saturday, winning 12-9 in overtime on Donald Brown’s 7-yard touchdown run just one week after pounding tiny Hofstra 35-3 at home in their season opener.

The Virginia Cavaliers (1-1, 0-0 ACC), beat Richmond 16-0 at home on Saturday to get in the win column after getting completely embarrassed in their season opener, losing to USC at home 52-7.

Now, the Huskies enter this contest looking to open the season with three consecutive wins in the BetUS Sportsbook for the second consecutive season when they host Virginia on Saturday night.

UConn junior tailback Donald Brown (Atlantic Highlands, N.J.) rushed for a career-best 214 yards against Temple and scored the game-winning touchdown on the Huskies’ first overtime possession.

Virginia’s Chase Minnifield stopped a late Richmond threat with an interception, and Vic Hall returned another interception 60 yards for a touchdown to seal the Cavaliers’ 16-0 victory over Richmond on Saturday though the Spiders kept it close until Mikell Simpson’s 1-yard touchdown run midway through the fourth quarter finally gave Virginia (1-1) a little breathing room at 10-0.

The Huskies are averaging 415.0 yards of total offense and 23.5 points per game while holding their two opponents this season to an average of just 234.0 yards and a miniscule 6.0 points per contest.

The Cavaliers are averaging just 241.0 total yards of offense and 11.5 points per game while allowing 374.5 yards and 26.0 points per contest.

Here is a look at the game’s key trends, followed by my analysis and NCAAF Betting Free Picks.

The Cavaliers are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 road games vs. a team with a winning home record.
The Cavaliers are 10-21 ATS in their last 31 games after allowing less than 275 total yards in their previous game.
The Huskies are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 home games.
The Huskies are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games on grass.
The Over is 4-0 in Cavaliers last 4 games on grass.
The Under is 10-1 in Huskies last 11 games after accumulating more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game.

NCAAF Odds

Virginia Cavaliers + 11 -110
Connecticut Huskies -11 -110

Analysis: While the UConn Huskies are by no means, offensive juggernauts, they are playing a team that is even more offensively challenged than they are and possess one of the nation’s best defenses.

Take the Huskies to win this contest and cover the spread narrowly.
