Nevada flies the second-ranked offense in the FBS (including the top-ranked rush offense, with a stupefying 362 yards/game) over the Pacific to toy with Southern Methodist.

After a dismal 1-11 season in 2008, the Mustangs have had a good year under head coach June Jones, but they just aren’t ready to contain Nevada’s dominant run game and maybe the best offense in the WAC (the only exception being Boise State QB Kellen Moore’s aerial antics).

The ‘Stangs ought to enjoy some tropical weather, some beachy drinks and getting lei’d over the holiday season, but they’d really need some good fortune to come away from this game with a win.

Nevada has a record three players on the same offense to amass 1,000 yards rushing (QB Colin Kaepernick, RB Vai Taua and RB Luke Lippincott) and though they don’t have a wild passing attack, Kaepernick is an efficient passer. With SMU bringing the 92nd-ranked defense in the nation to the table, expect the Wolf Pack to light up the scoreboard early and often.

No one believes in SMU, maybe no one has believed in them all season, and hopefully the players are using that as fuel. But they’ll have to be stealing fluids from their Boeing 747 on the flight over to have a chance against Nevada in Honolulu on Christmas Eve.

Aloha. It means hello and goodbye.

After losing their first three, Nevada went on a nice roll until losing to Boise State in a fairly close game.

SMU played well in the their conference, but were rather weak against their non-conference opponents.

Despite a two touchdown spread I like Nevada.
