Florida State used every trick in its arsenal to pick up its 24th consecutive victory a week ago. Louisville raced out to a 21-point lead in that one before the Seminoles fought back in a big way, eventually escaping with a 42-31 victory.

For Virginia, they’re riding the wrong kind of streak. Mike London’s squad has dropped three in a row since a 4-2 start to the year. They’re in danger of losing four in a row now, facing a Florida State team that holds a 14-3 series edge, including an 8-1 mark in games played in Tallahassee.

The Cavaliers may have some trouble keeping up should this turn into a shootout. Virginia is churning out 397.6 yards of offense on a per game basis. The team has gone with a two-quarterback system and each of Greyson Lambert and Matt Johns bring positives and negatives to the table.

Regardless of who is under center, option 1A in the offense is senior running back Kevin Parks. Parks has run for 626 yards and four touchdowns on the season, adding 24 receptions for 139 yards and an additional two scores.

The team will rely heavily on its defense in this one. That unit has forced 21 turnovers through nine games. They’ll be in tough against Jameis Winston and the Seminoles.

Winston threw for 401 yards and three touchdowns in last week’s win over Louisville, though he started slow, throwing three interceptions. For the year he’s completed 67.2 percent of his passes for 2,279 yards and 16 touchdowns with nine interceptions.

FREE Florida State vs. Virginia Pick:

The Cavaliers play solid defense, and as we saw a week ago, an opponent that can suffocate the Florida State offense can take them out. Louisville’s problem was that they got out to a lead too quickly and took their foot off the gas. Virginia won’t have that problem in a game that figures to be more competitive than that.

Additionally, with the Virginia defense set to shine, and the Virginia offense hardly a juggernaut and likely to struggle against a strong Florida State defense, there doesn’t figure to be a ton of points in this one.

The Seminoles are 2-7 ATS in their last nine games overall, while the Cavaliers are 5-2-1 ATS in their last eight games against opponents with a winning record.

The under is 4-0 in the Cavaliers’ last four games, and it is 5-0 in the Seminoles’ last five home games.

The under is 9-0 in the last nine meetings between these teams
