Notre Dame comes to Tempe off a 49-point performance against Navy. That performance was right in line with what the Irish have been able to accomplish on offense this season. The unit is churning out 458.2 yards per game on offense.

Quarterback Everett Golson has been the catalyst for everything the Irish have been able to do on that side of the ball. He’s thrown for 2,311 yards and 22 touchdowns while completing 62.8 percent of his passes, adding seven scores on the ground. Should we see another shootout like we did when these teams met in Arlington a year ago in a 37-34 battle, the result will be on Golson’s shoulders.
The Sun Devils know how to move the ball, and they do it in both facets, throwing for 292.1 yards per game and running for 192.5 yards per game to build an average of 34.4 points per game.

Junior running back D.J. Foster has been the team’s top weapon over the course of the season, running for 701 yards and six touchdowns while averaging 5.8 yards per touch. Wide receiver Jaelen Strong is one of the nation’s top options on the outside, bringing in 57 balls for 821 yards and eight touchdowns this season.

Arizona State has had some trouble coming through in the big game in recent years, and this is certainly a big game, but they’re the better squad entering this game, and with the home crowd behind them, all signs point to the Sun Devils coming out on top in this one.

Additionally, the total in this game looks awfully high, even if there is a Pac-12 team involved. Both teams know how to put up points, but both sides also bring solid defenses to the table, and in a game that is effectively an elimination affair for both sides, points figure to be harder to come by than many seem to expect.
The Sun Devils are 7-1 ATS in their last eight games after scoring fewer than 20 points in their previous game.
The under is 5-1 in Notre Dame’s last six road games, and 22-8 in their last 30 games against Pac-12 opponents, and it is 4-1 in Arizona State’s last five home games.
