They have a shot to make the playoffs if they can win out against Kansas, Texas and Iowa State.

This is a tough game to handicap, as it’s a perfect letdown spot for the Horned Frogs. TCU just beat WVU and Kansas State the last two weeks and now they head on the road against a weak opponent.

Kansas snapped a 5-game losing streak with a win over Iowa State (34-14). Despite the fact that this could be a letdown spot for TCU this is a complete mismatch and it’s hard to want to bet against TCU.

TCU is an offensive powerhouse this season. They average 47.2 PPG (3rd), 322.9 PYPG (8th) and 227.4 RYPG (24th). Trevone Boykin has been a beast and he has gotten it done through the air and on the ground.

[dfads params=’groups=66501&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

Boykin has thrown for 2691 yards, 23 TD’s and 4 INT’s. He also leads the team in carries (111). He’s 2nd on the team with 546 rushing yards and 7 TD’s. This one could get so ugly he may not play the whole game.

The Jayhawks allow 30.0 PPG (90th), 186.6 RYPG (90th) and 249.1 PYPG (94th), but it was only two weeks ago when they gave up 60 points to Baylor. Based on that, I’d expect TCU to score 50-60+ points.

Kansas only averages 18.2 PPG (121st), 207.8 PYPG (86th) and 144.7 RYPG (91st). If TCU scores anywhere near 50 points they should definitely cover the point spread although a backdoor is always possible.

The TCU defense gives up 22.3 PPG (30th), 128.3 RYPG (27th) and 246.1 PYPG (89th). Kansas just doesn’t have the passing offense to take advantage of the Horned Frogs struggling secondary.

These big spreads are tough because of the backdoor and the fact that the starters may not play in the entire game. On the other hand, TCU wants to smash teams to keep their current ranking.

4* Free NCAAF Picks: TCU Horned Frogs vs. Kansas Jayhawks

These two teams have played the last two years and TCU has won both, but Kansas has covered ATS in both of the match-ups. This year TCU has a lot more on the line and I expect a strong game from them.

TCU Horned Frogs –28.5 (-110)

I’ll be waiting until closer to kick-off before I bet on this game because I want to see if the spread will go down a ½ point. I dislike the hook and would much rather –28, but either way I’m taking TCU.
