The Nittany Lions have had a disappointing season, but a win against a top ten team could turn that all around.

Michigan State

After losing arguably their most important game of the year three weeks ago, the Spartans are looking to finish the season on a high note and pick up a 10th win.

Led by junior quarterback Connor Cook, the Spartans have are 6th in the nation in points per game with 43.9. Coach Dantonio has been experimenting with his team by playing his players at different positions. Last week, senior wide receiver Tony Lippett was listed as a starting cornerback. Against Rutgers he registered two pass breakups and one tackle.  He also became only the eighth receiver in Michigan State history to have a 1,000 yard receiving season.

Senior workhorse running back, Jeremy Langford, has had another strong year rushing for 1,242 yards and 17 touchdowns. Last week, he extended his streak of 100-yard rushing games against conference opponents to 15. He has been the anchor for the offense this year running behind an excellent offensive line.

The loss to Ohio State a couple weeks ago remains in the minds of players, but it is obvious they still want to finish the season strong. In the two weeks following the loss, the Spartans have outscored their opponents 82-18.

Seniors will be playing their last regular season game as Spartans and will look to end their careers’ on a high note.

Penn State

Quarterback Christian Hackenberg is coming off a season-low performance of 93 passing yards against Illinois. Although he did manage to stay interception free, the Nittany Lions lost 16-14. Running back Akeel Lynch has come on as of late and rushed for 172 yards last week with one score.

After the promising 4-0 start, the Nittany Lions have dropped five of the last seven. They have only two conference wins this year against Indiana and Rutgers. A win to finish out the season would make the year much more successful.

Penn State’s defense has been far from disappointing this year. They rank fourth overall in the country in points allowed per game with 16.2.

Hackenberg has been sacked a remarkable 39 times this year and thrown 14 interceptions.

He has been extremely frustrated with his play and will look to make up for some of his mistakes in the final week of the season.

NCAA Football Handicapping Trends:

  • Spartans are 10-2 ATS in road games vs. conference opponents.
  • Nittany Lions are 8-20 ATS after games where they gain 125 passing yards or less.
  • Spartans are 15-3-1 ATS in last 19 road games.
  • Total has gone over in 6 of last 8 games in this matchup.

Don’t expect Michigan State to show any mercy to Penn State this week. The Spartans are still upset about the loss a couple weeks ago that knocked them out of playoff contention. Connor Cook will have a big game, along with Jeremy Langford.

The Spartan offense will have a very productive day against a talented Penn State defense. Look for Hackenberg to struggle again with poor offensive line protection.

Free NCAA Betting Pick 4* Michigan State -13

If you can get a line on this one under two touchdowns I highly suggest take it. It is extremely likely that Michigan State will easily come away with this one. They want to get their 10th win of the year and finish on a strong note.

Final– Michigan State 28, Penn State 10

Penn State has not been playing well, especially on offense. I expect them to struggle again this week and drop one to the Spartans.
