Cincinnati Bearcats (5-0) v South Florida Bulls (5-0)
Cincinnati: 2-2 ATS / South Florida: 2-1 ATS

The Cincinnati Bearcats will try a repeat of 2007 when they square off against the South Florida Bulls in Thursday’s Big East match up at Raymond James Stadium.

Cincinnati leads the series 4-2 beating the Bulls 24-10 at home in 2008. USF holds a slight home field advantage winning 2-of-3 with Cincinnati edging out the Bulls 38-33 in 2007.

Cincinnati sits at the No. 8 spot in the Associated Press poll. USF moved up to No. 21. They are the only two Big East teams in the top 25.

The Bearcats are 5-0 for the first time since 2007, when they began the season 6-0, and are 1-0 in conference. The Bearcats are coming off a 37-13 victory over Miami Ohio in week 5 that saw running back Jacob Ramsey rush for 103 yards and three touchdowns. Quarterback Tony Pike, who leads the league with 298.4 yards avg. passing per game, went 23 of 42 for 270 yards with two touchdowns and an interception.

The Bearcats defense has been solid but has looked shaky in their last two appearances, allowing 443 offensive yards to Fresno and 286 yards passing to Miami Ohio. The team is coming off a bye week and should have had time to make some defensive adjustments before coming into Thursday’s big game.

After a huge win over rivals Florida State, the Bulls remain undefeated and 1-0 in conference play. QB B.J. Daniels leads the Bulls in rushing with 291 yards in five games and is completing 57.1 percent of his passes. Wide out Carlton Daniel has an 85-yard touchdown reception and leads the team with 21 catches for 377 yards.

South Florida ranks fifth in scoring defense and 12th in pass defense, allowing less than 10 points per game and 263 yards per game. They have only allowed opponents to score 4-13 inside their 20-yard line, making them No. 1 in red-zone defense.

Cincinnati vs. South Florida Odds

Cincinnati is –3 ½ point favorites in this one.

Bearcats vs. Bulls Free Pick

This game could be decided by a field goal. Which could wreak havoc for the Bulls, as South Florida has yet to find a suitable replacement for injured kicker Maikon Bonani. USF will need to put pressure Cincy’s Tony Pike forcing him off his game, while the Bearcats’ defense needs to improve on third down if they are going to allow their offense enough attempts to move the ball against a stingy South Florida defense.

One reply on “Cincinnati Bearcats vs. South Florida Bulls Preview | Pick”

South Florida is having a great season, but I see Cincinnati winning this game by more than three, as right now they appear to be the better team.

I would love to see the Bulls pull off the upset, but i do not see that happening.
