The fact that neither of these teams are at the top of the American Athletic Conference standings right now says a lot about the depth of the league in their first year as this league could easily finish the regular season with three teams with double digit win totals.

The league title was supposed to come down to this old Big East confrontation but UCF stole the thunder from this show with their upset over Louisville weeks ago.

Though not as much is at stake I think this will still be a very good game.

Louisville

This is QB Teddy Bridgewater’s last chance to make a statement for the Heisman so the Cardinals could be incentivized to pour it on a result…if they can.

Last year these teams played to overtime with the Cardinals winning by three with Bridgewater having a monster game with more than 400 yards through the air.

His Heisman talk has died down since the loss to UCF but now that there is some speculation about Jameis Winston and his eligibility he could be right back in the mix.

Even though he is great it is the Louisville defense that should really be the story this year because they have been superb. They are second against the run, second against the pass, second in total yards and 3rd in points allowed.

The only game they gave up more than 17 points this season was that loss to UCF and since defense generally travels they have a great chance to win their final regular season game in their lone season in the AAC.

Cincinnati

The Bearcats don’t have the star power of Louisville but when they look at where they are at this point they must be kicking themselves as losses to Illinois and South Florida look like extreme outliers.

Their own numbers on defense are pretty good as they are 10th in points allowed at 18ppg and 8th in yards allowed.

They are super stingy against the run too but with the pass defense not as strong but still very good.

That unit will be tested for sure but it will be up the offense to give them some time to rest.

The Bearcats have an underrated offense led by QB Brendan Kay, who had been putting up some great numbers over the second half of the season. Over the last 5 games he has thrown for 299 yards or more 5 times while twice having TD/INT ratios of 4/0.

If he can move the ball consistently to give the defense time to recover than an upset to close the season could be in the cards.

Spread Pick: Cincinnati +3.5
O/U Pick: Over
Score Prediction: Cincinnati 38 – Louisville 35
