The team kept their hopes alive with a third straight win including last week’s comeback victory at Virginia.

Duke’s offense continues to roll behind quarterback Anthony Boone, who moved to 5-0 as a starter with the win over the Cavaliers.

However, Brandon Connette also contributed, becoming the Devils first quarterback in to have two game-winning, fourth quarter touchdown passes. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Heading into this one, the Devils now rank 31st in the nation on 35 points per game, but will be challenged on Saturday as their 50th ranked defense matches up against the 19th-ranked Hokies who  currently sit atop the Coastal Division alongside unbeaten Miami.

Virginia Tech has won 12 straight over Duke and leads the all-time series 13-7.

And it’s not going to be easy for the Devils to move the ball against a stingy Hokies’ defense that has allowed just 15 points per game, on 256 yards per game and turnover margin with a plus-9 rating.

They will  face freshman cornerback Brandon Facyson who is tied for third in the nation with a conference-best four interceptions.

Meanwhile, Duke’s defensive will be tested as they face a potent Hokies offense that once again came out on top of versus the Pittsburgh Panthers by a score of 19-9 at Lane Stadium their last time out.

Quarterback Logan Thomas completed 19-of-34 pass attempts for 239 yards and a first-quarter touchdown for the Hokies in the win. That touchdown marked Thomas’ 46th career touchdown, which means he now trails only Bryan Randall (48) and Maurice DeShazo (47) among the Hokies’ all-time leaders.
