NCAA Football Betting – Knights Continue Fight For Conference-USA Supremacy Saturday Against Rice

Before College Football Gambling fans turn their attention to other sports betting events this week, we have the Thursday NCAA game of the day pick for you. It’s time for our weekly Football picks for online ncaa football betting action.

Team records:
Rice: 2-5 SU, 4-3 ATS
Central Florida: 4-2 SU, 4-1 ATS

After consecutive wins over UAB and Marshall, and victories in four of six games to open the 2010 season, the Knights will look to keep pace with East Carolina for top spot in the Conference-USA East division standings this Saturday when they take on Rice.

UCF struggled with consistency out of the gate against some bigger schools, but are still perfect within the conference after a pair of wins, and should be ready for an Owls’ team that has struggled this season.

Rice snapped a four-game losing streak last weekend when they took down Houston 34-31, a major college football betting surprise given that the Cougars are fighting with Southern Methodist for the top spot in the West division. With the remaining five contests on their schedule all against C-USA opponents, the Owls are looking to make some noise despite their slow start.

NCAA Football Betting Preview: Rice

The Owls are led by quarterback Nick Fanuzzi, a junior who has thrown for 1310 yards and seven touchdowns in seven games this season. Despite also tossing six interceptions, Fanuzzi has not turned the ball over the last two weeks against C-USA opponents, throwing six of his seven touchdowns over that span.

Fanuzzi should continue to play well within his own conference, and that should mean Rice improving on their 60th ranked passing attack. The Owls are allowing an average of just over 34 points per game this season, and with the defense struggling it will be on Fanuzzi and the offense to win games.

NCAA Football Betting Preview: UCF

A solid defense has lifted the Knights to one of the top spots in the C-USA. UCF has held opponents to an average of 13.8 points per game, which is ranked eighth in the country, including allowing a combined 21 points in consecutive wins over UAB and Marshall. A solid front-seven has been the key this season, as the Knights’ defense has allowed the team to get by with a solid rushing attack, which is ranked 28th in the football betting country. UCF has averaged just over 200 yards per game with running backs Ronnie Weaver and Jeffrey Godfrey leading the way, those two rushers combining for a 5.0 yards per carry average with nine touchdowns on the season. The Knights have this contest before a crucial match up against East Carolina two weeks from now, and will need to make sure everything is in order heading in to a showdown for top spot in the C-USA East division.

The Match Up: Rice @ UCF

Despite the Owls playing well in last weekend’s win, they are both outmatched and on the road this weekend, two key betting factors that will give the edge to the Knights for this Saturday.

NCAA Football Betting Pick: UCF
