The Tennessee Volunteers are looking for their fifth straight conference win when they take on the Auburn Tigers in this Thursday night SEC matchup. Tip-off from the Auburn Arena is set for 9 p.m. (ET) and the game will be broadcast on ESPN2.

Tennessee has won four of its last five games after suffering through a stretch where it lost six of nine. The Volunteers are coming off a 74-58 victory over Mississippi as a 1 ½-point road underdog. They are now 14-7 straight-up (10-10 against the spread) overall and 4-2 SU in the SEC-East.

Scotty Hopson lead the Vols with 16.5 points a game, while Tobias Harris is the team’s leading rebounder with 7.7 a game and the second leading scorer with an average of 14.7 points. Tennessee is shooting 43.8 percent from the field and averaging 73 points a game.

Auburn finally squeezed out a conference win after losing its first six. Saturday’s 79-64 win over South Carolina as a 13 ½-point road underdog moved the Tigers to 8-13 SU and 7-5-2 ATS. They are still firmly in last place in the SEC-West at 1-6 SU.

Earnest Ross and Andre Malone have provided the bulk of the scoring for Auburn this season. Ross is averaging 12.7 points and seven rebounds a game and Malone is averaging 11.7 points and 3.4 rebounds. The Tigers are averaging just 63 points a game which is one of the lowest scoring totals amongst Division I schools.

You should always be a little wary of home teams getting points in conference matchups not matter how mismatched the game may seem. Auburn digs deep to find a way to keep things close enough to cover after getting blown out 81-55 earlier in the season at Tennessee.

The Pick: Auburn +9
