UNLV had a big chance to make a statement at home against BYU last week, but they were humbled in a big way. Now they must take on an unbeaten San Diego State team that has some very lofty goals for this season. San Diego State is 17-0 and they are up to #6 in the rankings now. This is a very talented team that has the potential to make a lot of noise in March.
The Runnin’ Rebels have been a little inconsistent this year. They have plenty of guys who can score, but the team has had long stretches in games where they go on a scoring drought. Tre’Von Willis is the leader of this team, but Chace Stanback is an extremely talented guard as well. If UNLV is going to win this game they must hold their own on the glass, where San Diego State is strong.
The San Diego State Aztecs probably have the best frontcourt in the entire country. Kawhi Leonard, Malcolm Thomas, and Billy White are absolutely terrific. All of them are extremely skilled and they complement each other very well. D.J. Gay is a seasoned veteran at the point guard position, and Chase Tapley is capable of lighting it up as well. This team doesn’t have many weaknesses.

The Pick:
I think it is far too much to ask of San Diego State to expect them to run the table in a great Mountain West Conference, but I don’t think they’ll lose this game. I lean towards San Diego State on the side, but my favorite play here is the under.
