Kansas State 9-1 (3-3 ATS) vs. Florida 7-2 (1-6 ATS)
Saturday December 18 – 3:30
Recent history: There are no recent meeting between these teams.

Kansas State has been pretty sharp against a weak opening schedule.  This team was ranked highly in the preseason but have played mainly third tier competition (a third of their games haven’t even been lined) with the exception of Duke who beat them pretty easily.  This is a very good and athletic team that should challenge for the Big 12 title and this weekend against an experienced Florida team will be a good test.  The key as always will be the Beard, Jacob Pullen.  His scoring is down early which is in part due to reduced minutes that will climb as the season progresses.

But he also isn’t shooting well.  Duke held him to just four points and may have shown the rest of the nation how to limit this explosive scorer.

If K-State wants to be elite they need to get him untracked  starting now.

The Gators have been disappointing so far this season.  With five returning starters they should have started to season more sharply instead they were blown out at home by the Buckeyes and inexplicably lost on the road at Central Florida.

They are an ugly 1-6 ATS which only further demonstrates that they have been disappointing bettors as much as everybody else.  Their poor play has been across the board too.

Kenny Boynton, who has never seen a shot he shouldn’t take, is shooting a dismal 37% and nobody is hammering the glass.  Also, Alex Tyus has disappeared.  He was smart to withdraw from the NBA draft in the spring but he is not going to get anyone’s attention by averaging 9 points and 5 rebounds per game.  Florida has the talent to compete with K-State and they have the right mix of personnel to match up well too.

They just have to start playing…and they will.

K-State is going to be very tough in the conference but right now it seems like they are trying to figure out some stuff.  The Gators have the talent to win but they will have to match the Wildcats intensity.  This should come down to the wire with the Gators winning it.

Score prediction:  Florida 77 – K-State 75

NCAA Basketball Betting – Wildcats, Gators In Top-25 Clash

Those betting on college football will have bowl season start on Saturday, but there is also an intriguing top-25 matchup on the hardwood as Kansas State meets Florida in a tilt of two teams that have underachieved a bit to start the season.

The No.6 Jayhawks (9-1) used shutdown defense in a 68-60 win at Loyola (Ill), and they also needed a big game from Jacob Pullen, who grew up close to Loyola and his mother actually works at the university. Pullen had 19 points and nine boards in his homecoming, while Martavious Irving came off the bench with 12 points for the Wildcats, who shot just 42% from the floor, but they held the Ramblers to 31.3% from the field. The Wildcats were also fortunate that the Ramblers also had a terrible day at the foul line as they shot 21-of-35, but Loyola shot just 16-of-27. Online NBA betting players are looking to see how Pullen handles pressure situations, and he hasn’t been the best so far this year, but he certainly stepped up last Saturday.

The No.24 Gators (7-2) got a great night from their big men in a 65-52 win over Kent State at home, as Alex Tyus had 20 points and five rebounds, while Vernon Macklin chipped in with 19 points and eight boards for the Gators, who shot 48.4% from the field. The Gators only got to the foul line six times, making two of them, but their defense carried them to the win as they held the Golden Flashes to 34.5% from the floor, and they outrebounded Kent State 36-32. Their guards had a poor game, but the Gators are going to be a problem when they put it all together.

The Gators may be favored in your pay per head sportsbook the MetroPCS Orange Bowl Classic, which will be held in Sunrise, Florida, so Florida will obviously have more fans in the house. This is the first meeting for these programs, and neither has really performed up to expectations. There are matchups to watch all over the place: Kansas State is 14th in the country in rebounding, while Florida is 35th, so the battle of the boards will be crucial. Then there is the backcourt, where Pullen and new partner Rod Sherman will take on Florida’s Kenny Boynton and Erving Walker. Boynton, in particular, is off to a poor start this season and taking on Pullen could be the thing to jumpstart his season. In this battle of underachieving teams, we’re taking Florida to win what should be an entertaining game.

Online sports betting pick: Florida Gators
