Kentucky
That was some display Kentucky put on Thursday night. I have no doubt they were partially motivated by comments from WVU but this game showed just how deadly this group can be when they combine their amazing defensive presence with an actual offensive game that is more than just put backs.

Kentucky dominated throughout the entire game and it will be interesting to see if they can sustain that high level against a much better Notre Dame team.
Perfection is still a possibility.
Against the Mountaineers the Wildcats really spread things around.
5 Cats scored in double figures but one of them was not Willie Cauley-Stein who led the club in rebounds and blocks. It was encouraging to see the Harrison twins have good games because Kentucky is at their best when they play well.

When they are on their game and their size make it really difficult for opponents. Tyler Ulis and Devin Booker are very good too but there is not the same dynamic.
Notre Dame
The Irish played a very good game in knocking out Wichita State.
They were all over the Shockers early but was more impressive was how they closed them out in the second half after squandering almost all of their first half lead. Taking on Kentucky is going to be a huge challenge, literally, because the Irish are not very big…or deep for that matter.
They are super efficient on offense though and they can certainly make enough shots for this one to put some heat on the Wildcats.
Notre Dame star Jerian Grant proved last game what a force he can be even if he is not scoring the ball.
He contributed 11 assists and made a huge dagger of a three late, something he is going to have to do in this one too.
More importantly he is going to have to be a great leader for his team. He played all 40 minutes, so did Pat Connaughton, and will likely have to again.

If he is the best player on the floor for either side the Irish have a chance.
