Wisconsin

The Badgers were impressive against North Carolina. I don’t think they played a great game overall but they closed strong, which is something that the really good teams do. Throughout the second half they spouted on about what happens when they are winning with 5 minutes or less – they essentially never lose – and it came to fruition.

Next up is an Arizona team that provides a greater offensive challenge but that will probably not push them as hard defensively.

The reason the Badgers are such good closers is that they are fundamentally sound. They can play defense, they know how to recognize and take good shots and they make their free throws. The game was right there for the taking by UNC and they forced it at times.

Plus it does not hurt when you have a Player of the Year candidate like Frank Kaminsky, who is probably not even their best player (Sam Dekker?)

Arizona

The Wildcats got the job done on Thursday night, dismissing coach Sean Miller’s former program Xavier.

They have not lost a game since February 7 but as the rounds have gone by the games have gotten closer for Arizona. This one will definitely be a test for a team that is by all measures one of the best defensive program in America.

Odds are that if they are going to get the victory they need someone to step up on the offensive end. It is good to have depth but they need someone to shine too.

Freshman Stanley Johnson is the team’s leading scorer but he has been only so-so in the Tournament, averaging only 8ppg over the last two. The Wildcats need someone to step up on offense and I think he can get the job done by being more aggressive with the bounce and getting to the rim.

His drives can also create more opportunities for offensive rebounds Rondae Hollis-Jefferson and Brandon Ashley.

If you attack the Badgers you can have some success.

NCAAB Betting Trends:

  • ARIZ are 15-5 ATS in their last 20 games overall.
  • Under is 37-14 in ARIZ last 51 Sat. games.
  • Under is 6-2 in WIS last 8 Sat. games.

4* NCAAB Betting Prediction:  Arizona -1.5

This will be a close game but after all the late fouls and such it might not looks like it.

NCAAB Score Prediction:  Arizona 71 – Wisconsin 62

Arizona’s athletic defense will be a little too much to handle for the Badgers. The Wildcats are great value as a small favourite.
