The Wisconsin Badgers have been just the kind of team bettors like to ride this year. Not only are they legitimately good, sporting a 23-7 record and winning seven of their nine games, they tend to win decisively and beat the spread often. They’ve beaten the spread three straight times, winning by 15 or more points in all three games.
The most recent win came against none other than Illinois – 72-57 – at Illinois.
The Badgers play smothering defense, ranking third in the nation with just 56.1 points allowed per game. Given that Illinois is just OK offensively and lacks an elite scorer, I don’t see it keeping up with the Badgers.
This week has taught us that nothing is for certain in college hoops. But the Badgers do look like one of Thursday’s safer conference tourney bets.
