SDSU is 8-0 at home this season and UNLV is 3-2 on the road.

Jamaal Franklin leads SDSU and he is not only averaging 17.8 ppg, but even though he is a guard he is the team’s leading rebounder. That has to be a concern since UNLV is a good team on the boards that has a solid frontcourt. He will need help in the paint on the boards from 2nd leading rebounder Deshawn Stephens (5.2 rpg).

Anthony Bennett (19.6 ppg) is the nation’s leading freshman scorer and he went for 22 points in his last game. He is a 6’8″ FW that also leads the Runnin Rebels in rebounding and he and fellow FW Mike Moser (9.6 ppg 7.2 rpg) form a formidable frontcourt. The Aztecs must play solid interior defense and not allow these 2 from dominating the paint.

Both Bennett and Moser had solid games facing Colorado State in their last game, but they were only a combined 4-15 from the free throw line. If these guys get to the charity stripe tonight they have to knock down their free throws. [ad-6571516]

Since the Aztecs do not have a great frontcourt Franklin will need help from fellow guards Chase Tapley and Xavier Thames in the scoring department and these guys have to knock down their shots tonight.

In the last 22 games between these 2 teams in San Diego each has won 11.

In some betting trends for this Mountain West Conference match up UNLV is 2-14 ATS in their last 16 road games, 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games overall, and they have an Under record of 6-1 in their last 7 home games.

SDSU is 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games overall, 4-10 ATS in their last 14 home games, and they have an Over record of 5-1-1 in their last 7 games.

Jason’s Pick: UNLV has not covered the spread in their last 5 games facing the Aztecs in San Diego and that trend will continue. At home the Aztecs will play well and step up in their D and they will win and cover.
