The Bulldogs (11-9, 4-2) had to fight off a furious second-half rally from Columbia in a 72-67 win, as they raced out to a 16-point halftime lead and almost let it slip away. Greg Mangano led the way with 21 points and nine rebounds, while Austin Morgan added 16 points for the Bulldogs, who shot 50% from the field, but they were sloppy with the ball, turning it over 17 times. Even baseball betting players know the dangers of looking past an opponent, and after leading by as much as 19 points in the second half, Yale may have lost their concentration and began to think about their big trip to Harvard, but they pulled it together just in time.

The Crimson (16-4, 5-1) needed two overtimes to come away with an 83-82 win at Pennsylvania, and like Yale, they may have gotten complacent after an 11-point halftime lead. Keith Wright poured in 25 points, while Kyle Casey had 18 points and nine boards for the Crimson, who shot a blistering 51.9% from the floor, which helped overcome 17 turnovers. The Crimson also had a seven-rebound edge on the glass, and all five of their starters had at least six rebounds. This was a good test for Harvard, who had to bounce back from a four-point loss at first-place Princeton, and to turn around and win a double-overtime game the next night, that’s a great showing of mental strength.

Betting services will likely favor the Crimson at home, where they are 10-0 SU this season and have won 13 in a row going back to last season. Harvard beat Yale by 20 at home last season, which was revenge for a 21-point loss in 2009, and we’re going to stay with the home team in this game as the Crimson have been fantastic at Cambridge, they move the ball around very well and they’re efficient in their shot selection. Harvard’s big task will be to slow down Mangano, who averages a double-double, and they’re going to need a big game out of freshman guard Laurent Rivard, who will likely go up against Yale’s Reggie Willhite. The Bulldogs have dropped their last two games on the road, and going into a very hostile environment isn’t what they need right now. Go with the Harvard Crimson in your sports betting picks on Friday.

Poolside Rants hails from beautiful Bozeman Montana by way of Toronto, Canada. (Blame his wife for the move). He’s a Dallas Cowboys football honk. But please….don’t hold that against him. The man knows his sports and has uncanny knowledge when it comes to picking games.
