NBA Betting – Lakers return home from horror road trip

If you’ve been wrapped up in Final Four odds, you’re missing an exciting stretch run into the playoffs as the Los Angeles Lakers have made things interesting with a two-game losing skid and three road losses in the last week. They’ll be back in the Staples Center on Friday night when they host Utah, who are on a roll right now and have surged to third in the Western Conference.

The Jazz dropped Golden State 128-104 for their third straight win and eighth in 10 games overall, and they’ve now scored 100 points or more in 11 straight games. Carlos Boozer led the way with 25 points and 13 rebounds, while Kyle Korver came off the bench to score 21 points, and Paul Millsap brought another 19 points and 11 points off the pine for the Jazz. Deron Williams steered the shit with 19 assists as the Jazz shot 52.9% from the field, and they outrebounded the Warriors 57-35.

NBA odds still have the Lakers as the co-favorites to win their second straight title, but a 109-92 loss in Atlanta on Wednesday may set off some bells among Los Angeles fans. Kobe Bryant had 28 points, but the Lakers allowed the Hawks to shoot 54.2% from the field, they were outscored 44-26 in the paint, and their bench was outscored 48-22. The Lakers aren’t in panic mode, but a 22-16 record on the road isn’t encouraging, even though they’ll have homecourt through the playoffs if they can seal up the No.1 seed. Sports Betting at the Sportsbook

Sportsbook odds should have the Lakers as the favorites at home as they are 32-5 at the Staples Center, and they’ve won four of their last five against the Jazz, who hasn’t won in Los Angeles against the Lakers since New Years Day, 2006, a span of 13 games.

The Lakers will be excited to get back on their home court after losing three of their last four on the road, and the Atlanta blowout loss was certainly a wake-up call. The Jazz have been playing extremely well lately, but they’ll have do something about Pau Gasol, who has put up 19.0 points and 17.0 boards in three games against them this season.

The Lakers need to find a way to get Gasol the ball more, because as good as Bryant is, he was much better served last year when he deferred to his teammates more than he has this year. The triangle offense works better when the ball is being moved, and we should see them get back to basics on Friday.
