Miami Heat

On Tuesday, when the Heat were upset by the double digit underdog Detroit Pistons, we had mentioned that we liked the Pistons to cover. And, obviously, they did. But, the Pistons upsetting the Heat by 10 points came as a surprise. Nevertheless, our best bet was the Pistons at +10.5 and they came through.

One of the many reasons why the Heat couldn’t cover and didn’t even win is because they were without Dwayne Wade. Wade missed the game with a sore knee and for Thursday night his status is questionable, but I’m not putting too much stock into that.

For one, we talked about how the Pistons were a good rebounding team and the Heat weren’t. That was evident Tuesday night. The Heat shot a season low 44% and they were unable to get a rebound. They were pretty much one and done. Plus, Michael Beasley filled in nicely in Wade’s absence. So, overall, if Wade plays, that only benefits the Heat, obviously, but I’m not putting too concerned if Wade doesn’t play.

Against the spread, the Miami Heat have found success on the road. This year, on the road, they are 5-2 so far and in their last 10 games they are 4-0. And in games in which the Heat are between 4 to 6 point favorites the Heat are 3-1 for the year.

Chicago Bulls

The Chicago Bulls have been really bad of late. Pretty much, ever since Derrick Rose went down so have the Bulls. In their last five games the Bulls are 1-4 and in their last 7 games the Bulls are 1-6. Their only win, ironically enough, came against the Detroit Pistons on the road.

On Tuesday night, the Bulls played as well, but in that game they used a lot of energy. They had to play three overtimes Joakim Noah, and Kirk Hinrich both played 50 plus minutes in that game, while Mike Dunleavy played 48 minutes, and Taj Gibson played 44 minutes himself.

As a 2 plus point underdog this season, the Bulls are 2-3 ATS and one of those losses came at hands of the Miami Heat. Plus, keep in mind that the Heat have beaten the Bulls in five straight games, including last year’s playoffs.

Danny’s FREE NBA Pick:

Overall, I like the Miami Heat in this one. I believe after their 10 game winning streak snapped on Tuesday, they’ll be a bit more motivated on Thursday night. There playing on the road on TNT and I believe they’ll have a little bit more of an edge to them. Plus, they get a Bulls team with Derrick Rose, they’ve struggled of late, and they just finished losing a triple overtime game to the New Orleans Pelicans the other night. You factor all this and I believe getting the Miami Heat at -4 is the best pick.

Pick: Miami Heat -4
