Golden State Warriors vs. OKC Thunder Gambling & NBA Handicapping Prediction

Golden St. vs OKC NBA Picks

The Warriors continue to struggle on the road as they lost at Dallas in the second game of their current road trip. It was also the second game of a back to back but this is a young team and it is early in the season so that shouldn’t matter all that much. [ad-4468020]

Golden State

Things do not get any easier as they will have to take on an Oklahoma City team that is riding high. A win would be a great accomplishment but might be beyond what we can expect from this growing team.

In the loss to the Mavericks it was the usual suspects with Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and David Lee all scoring 20 or more points. The problem is nobody else even scratched double figures. Now with some experience under his belt the Warriors are still not getting much from highly touted Harrison Barnes. There is no doubting his athleticism but the production hasn’t been there. With Andre Iguadala out they need him to step up.

Golden State is always a dangeroud underdog play because they shoot the ball so well. Last time out Curry made 6 three pointers and when he is shooting like that there is no team they can not hang with. I expect this game to have some flow which should mean that the Warriors will be in it through the final few possession. I like them in this spot.

Oklahoma City

OKC should be feeling very good about themselves right now. On Wednesday they handed the San Antonio Sprus just their second loss of the season and the win extended their current streak to 5 games, plus they have yet to lose a home game this season. The Thunder are pushing to be recognized as the top team in the West and this game will help get them there. Hopefully they didn’t overdo it on Thanksgiving, a potential risk to the home teams in these situations.

Kevin Durant deserves all the attention he gets but one of the reasons the Thunder are rolling right now is the play of reserve point guard Reggie Jackson. He was second on the team in scoring against the Spurs and he plays an important role of letting the Thunder give Russell Westbrook the rest he needs to stay healthy. I also like what I am seeing when they play the two together. Neither is a true pass first point but their aggressive nature delivers results.

Up top I talked about liking Golden State against the spread, here I want to talk about how the total is going to be toast. These are two very good scoring teams and this one should bust through the number with about 5 minutes to play. Even if you think OKC might dominate it is more likely to be in the 120-105 range than the total from their game against SA last time out.

Spread Pick: Golden State +7
O/U Pick: Over
Score Prediction: Oklahoma City 111 – Golden State 108
