Given how awful the Raptors have been this season, it may surprise some bettors to see Toronto favored over the Pacers, even at home, but the oddsmakers are well aware of the historical trends between these two squads. The home team has won the last 10 meetings.

The Raps have settled nicely into NBA bottom dweller territory. They’ve lost seven of 10 and are good to lose about seven of every 10 games, really. Toronto has had its heart broken of late, though. It lost 137-136 to the Nets on March 5 and fell at home to Utah 96-94 on a buzzer beater Wednesday night.

Andrea Bargnani continues his pleasant offensive season. Much maligned as a former No. 1 overall pick, he hasn’t been half bad this year, averaging 22.1 points per game. Too bad he can’t defend or establish his presence under the basket. The Raps’ top rebounder, Amir Johnson, is doubtful to play tonight after injuring his ankle against Utah. But Reggie Evans is back from injury and can fill that void.

After a midseason coaching change, the Pacers enjoyed a nice surge into the Eastern Conference playoff picture, but they’ve really undone all that hard work of late. They’ve lost five straight and six of seven. They’ve played four of their last five on the road during the losing streak, which partially explains why they’ve been blown out by 17 or more points three times over that span.

I’ve said it before but there seems to be a strange connection between the Pacers’ play and Roy Hibbert this season. Danny Granger is pretty consistent but Hibbert has been hot/cold all year and the team only seems to win when he’s “on.” Lately, Hibbert is off. The big fella has zero double-doubles in his last 14 games and had no points in Indiana’s loss to Minnesota earlier this week.

The Pacers seem mentally deflated. If the lowly T-Wolves can beat them by 26 points, I think the Raptors can win outright tonight at home, even if it’s close.

Trends:

Over is 7-1 in IND last 8 vs. Eastern Conference.
Over is 12-5 in IND last 17 road games.
TOR are 1-7-1 ATS in their last 9 Fri. games.
Over is 8-3 in TOR last 11 vs. NBA Central.
TOR are 6-13 ATS in their last 19 games overall.
Home team is 14-3 ATS in the last 17 meetings.
Favorite is 13-3 ATS in the last 16 meetings.

Prediction: Raptors 100, Pacers 95
