One team’s two-game losing streak will come to an end on Tuesday night when the Houston Rockets take on the Los Angeles Lakers at the Staples Center. Tip-off is set for 10:30 p.m. (ET) and the game will be broadcast nationally on NBA TV.

Houston is coming off a Texas sweep with a 111-106 loss to Dallas last Thursday night as 6 ½-point road underdog and a 108-95 loss to San Antonio as an eight-point road underdog this past Saturday. The Rockets are now 22-27 straight-up and 24-23-2 against the spread. They are in 11th place in the Western Conference.

Kevin Martin leads the Rockets with an average of 23 points a game and Luis Scola is averaging 19.3 points and a team-high 8.4 rebounds a game. Houston is ranked fourth in the league in scoring with an average of 105.1 points a game, but is giving up the same amount of points on defense.

LA is looking to rebound after an ugly 100-95 loss to Sacramento on Friday as a 12-point home favorite and a 109-96 loss to Boston as a three-point home favorite on Sunday. The Lakers still have the second-best record in the West at 33-15 SU (21-26-1 ATS) but the gap between them and first-place San Antonio has widened to 7 ½-games.

Kobe Bryant’s 25.5 points a game leads an LA team that is averaging 103.4 points a game, while defensively it is holding teams to an average of 96.6 points a game. The problem with the Lakers this season has been a lack of consistency from one game to the next, making it very difficult to know what kind of effort you will get on any given night.

Houston is 4-2 ATS in its last six games against the Lakers , including covering as a 6 ½-point road underdog in a 112-110 loss earlier this season. Take the Rockets and the 8 ½ points in close loss on the road.

Trends

Under is 7-3 in HOU last 10 Tue. games.
Under is 13-5 in LAL last 18 home games.
Under is 26-11 in LAL last 37 overall.
Home team is 7-3 ATS in the last 10 meetings.

The Pick: Houston +8 ½
