Houston Rockets

After eleven games into the NBA season, the Houston Rockets averaged 108.8 points per game which was good for second in the NBA. On Tuesday night they easily dispatched the Boston Celtics at home scoring 109 points.

Pretty much on point of their season average.

The Houston Rockets are back on the right track. They’ve won three games in a row after losing three of their last four games before that. James Harden and Dwight Howard are the leaders on this team, but on Tuesday night versus the Boston Celtics the Rockets got a major contribution from Terrance Jones.

Jones scored a career-high 24 points shooting 10 of 12 from the field leading the way for a 109-85 victory over the Celtics.

Dallas Mavericks

After getting off to a bit of a slow start, the Mavericks have found their groove of late winning four of their last five games. In the Mavericks last game versus the Philadelphia 76ers it wasn’t pretty, but they got the job done. The Mavericks started slow, but slowly but surely they got better as the game progressed.

In the first, they scored 18, in the second quarter 25, and then in the third quarter they peaked at 31 points. They ended up finishing up with 97 points and winning by 3 over the 76ers.

As mentioned, it wasn’t a pretty game, nor was it a good game from the Mavericks. Still, they got the win.

On the other hand, they did struggle with the now 5-7 76ers and if the Mavericks want to progress towards the top of the Western Conference they’ll have to play better and tighten up their sloppy play (they had 20 turnovers versus the 76ers.).

For the season, the Dallas Mavericks average 105.7 points per game which ranks 5th in the NBA, they hit 80% of their free throws (5th in the NBA), and they hit 39% of their three pointers (7th in the NBA).

All in all, expect a high scoring shootout when the Rockets travel to Dallas.

Danny’s FREE NBA Pick:

Both teams are very good and while the Rockets are playing back-to-back games, they didn’t play in a high stress game. A 40 point first quarter basically gave the Rockets the win early on versus the Celtics. This is a nationally televised game on ESPN and the Western Conference is a very tough.

There are a lot of good teams and you can’t afford to give away games. Both teams want to continue winning.

With two of the highest scoring teams in the NBA; I expect this one to be a high scoring, back-and-forth affair. This game could go either way and with that said, I like the Rockets at +4. There isn’t a slam dunk winner and with that I like the points in this one.

The Rockets are a very good team and I believe they cover the 4 points.

Pick: Houston Rockets +4
