In Game 5 of the NBA Finals, the Dallas Mavericks defeated the Miami Heat 112-103 on the heels of yet another fourth quarter comeback.

Dallas shot 57.9 percent from the field in Game 5, with big Dirk Nowitzki leading all scorers with 29 points on 9-of-18 shooting.

Dallas ended the game as strong as they have during the entire series with a 15-3 run, coming back from a fourth quarter deficit for the third time in as many wins in these NBA Finals.

Lebron James scored a triple-double for the game, but looked pedestrian during the fourth quarter yet again, only scoring two points. Dwyane Wade scored 23 for Miami on 6-of-12 shooting, and Chris Bosh added 19 points and 10 rebounds for the double-double as Miami ended the game shooting 52.9 percent from the floor.

Point guard JJ Barea netted 17 for the Mavericks on 6-11 shooting, and Jason Terry came off the bench to score 21.

This series has been made in the fourth quarter, and Dallas has shown that they are much more prepared physically and mentally for the waning moments than Miami is. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

James has scored just two points in the fourth quarters of the last two games combined, while Nowitzki is averaging more than eight points down the stretch.

The three-point shooting that got Dallas here has finally shown up in the last two games, mainly in the final period of play.

Wade was playing injured during the second half, but looked fine throughout. He has been the only bright spot for Miami in the fourth quarter, and if Miami has any chance at winning the last two games at home, James is going to have to show up when it matters.

Without the high-flying scorer that King James can be, Miami looks outmatched in every aspect of the game, and their stingy defense can only go so far if they can’t score on the offensive end.

Out of the 26 Finals that were tied through four games, the winner of Game 5 went on to win 19 times. Dallas has history on their side for the rest of the series.

Recent Trends:
DAL are 8-1-1 ATS in their last 10 road games.
DAL are 18-6-2 ATS in their last 26 games overall.
DAL are 9-3-2 ATS in their last 14 Sun. games.
Over is 6-1-1 in MIA last 8 home games.
MIA are 6-2-1 ATS in their last 9 games overall.
Road team is 12-3-2 ATS in the last 17 meetings.

Matt’s Free Prediction: Dallas – It will be hard for Dallas to go into Miami and get a win when the Heat know they are one game away from going home empty handed, but expect Dirk to carry his team yet again in the fourth quarter to hoist the Larry O’Brien trophy in front of a stunned Miami crowd.
