The Rockets are looking to win their 10th home game out of the last 12 while the Timberwolves have taken four of their last six games.

Minnesota

Despite the Timberwolves woeful record, they have played the Rockets tough this year and have been playing much better as of late.

Last meeting, the Timberwolves took the Rockets to overtime and lost 114-112 due to Nick Johnson hitting a layup at the buzzer. Minnesota has played well since getting a couple players back from injury and defeated Phoenix on Friday at home 111-108.

Rookie sensation Andrew Wiggins has been magnificent and is looking like a lock for Rookie of the Year. Before the trade deadline last Thursday, Minnesota made a very interesting move to get former-Timberwolve and veteran Kevin Garnett back. Garnett isn’t expected to make his debut until later this week, which will be a very touching moment for Timberwolves fans.

During the last six games the Wolves are averaging 101.8 points per game and the only two losses in this span were to West-leading Golden State and East-leading Atlanta. Point guard Ricky Rubio has been brilliant along with Kevin Martin and Nikola Pekovic.

Rubio is averaging 10.7 points per game to go along with 8.4 assists. All of Minnesota’s offense is run through him and when he plays well they can be very good. In order for Minnesota to leave Houston with a victory they must take advantage of no Dwight Howard inside and shoot the ball well from the three-point line.

Houston

Tonight’s game will mark the second game of a five-game home stand for the Rockets. On Saturday the Rockets blew out the second seed in the East, the Toronto Raptors. The biggest issue for the Rockets has been finding someone to step up in the absence of Dwight Howard.

Before Howard went down with the knee injury, the Rockets were one of the best defensive teams in the league. Before their win against the Raptors, Houston was allowing 111.8 points per game in the previous five games to go along with 49.1 percent from the floor.

However, the defensive intensity was there last game. Houston forced 25 turnovers, had a season high 17 steals to go along with nine blocks. Guard James Harden has been impressive all season and continues to make his push for MVP.

Although last game Harden was only 5 for 12 which was good for 20 points, Corey Brewer picked up the slack coming off the bench. Brewer finished with 26 points to go along with ten rebounds and a remarkable five steals.

Brewer, the former Minnesota Timberwolve, will look to have another big game tonight and is one of Houston’s keys to victory.

NBA Handicapping Tips:

  • Timberwolves are 2-10 ATS in their last 12 Monday games.
  • Rockets are 5-1 ATS in their last six home games.
  • Rockets are 4-0 ATS in their last four home games against a team with a losing road record.
  • Over is 4-0 in the last four meetings.

NBA Gambling Prediction

Houston will come out and try to put Minnesota away quickly. The young Timberwolve squad gets down on themselves when they get behind early. James Harden will have a big game and expect Corey Brewer to do the same against his former ball club.

Free 4* NBA Betting Pick: HOU -9

The Rockets should have no problem covering the nine-point spread, especially at home against one of the worst teams in the league.

Rockets 115, Timberwolves 98
