These teams are tied in the West right now so there is at least a little bit more at stake.

Oklahoma City

The Thunder were unlucky early and now they are looking to make up for lost time.

Injury forced star Kevin Durant to miss the beginning of the season but since he has been back OKC has rattled off a 6-1 record.

He hasn’t quite found his form yet but paired with Russell Westbrook, who also missed significant action and suddenly the Thunder are a force to be reckoned with.

Also, without those two they developed a defensive mentality that has them ranked first in the league in points allowed.

With their two stars back the Thunder no have two 20+ point per game scorers.

With all due respect to Reggie Jackson who led the team in scoring early he is better as a hoist it up bench player than your lead dog. Also, with those guys back I expect the see the numbers of Serge Ibaka to rise.

His shooting efficiency was down as he was not getting the looks you do when you have superstars on the court.

Sacramento

It wasn’t all that long ago that the Kings were above .500 and looking to maybe sneak into the playoffs in the West.

But now they are really struggling, in large part due to the fact that they have been without the services of Demarcus Cousins, their best player, and for my money the best center in the league. Cousins was the one certainty on this team and without him they have been lost to say the least.

With the Thunder playing well this not a very good matchup for them.

With Cousins out it puts more pressure on Rudy Gay to lead the team offensively and that is not a good thing.

Gay can be kind of a black hole and even more so with the lineups they have been putting on the floor.

[dfads params=’groups=63741&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

He has never met a shot he didn’t like but makes just 44%. Until such time that a new reliable second scorer emerges the Kings are going to find it hard because teams will just let them beat themselves through inefficiency.

NBA Handicapping Trends:

  • Thunder are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall.
  • Thunder are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following a S.U. win.
  • Under is 6-0 in Thunder last 6 vs. a team with a losing S.U. record.
  • Kings are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games playing on 2 days rest.
  • Kings are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 home games.
  • Kings are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games following a S.U. loss.
  • Thunder are 3-0-1 ATS in the last 4 meetings.
  • Under is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings in Sacramento.
  • Under is 6-1 in the last 7 meetings.

NBA Prediction: OKC -7 to -9

OKC will continue their winning ways and I will be staying away from the Kings until Cousins is back in the lineup and producing as expected.

4* NBA Score prediction:  Oklahoma City 100 – Sacramento 91

Run…don’t walk. RUN and pounce on the line at -7.
