NASCAR’s Sprint Cup series heads to Watkins Glen in upstate New York this week for its second and final road race of the season. Sunday’s Cheez-It 355 at the Glen is set to get underway at 1 p.m. and it will be broadcast nationally on FOX.

Kasey Kahne posted his second point race victory of the year last Sunday at Pocono with Jeff Gordon finishing second and Kurt Busch taking third.

The following is a closer look at our favorite, contender, and longshot picks for this Sunday’s race with odds provided by Sportsbook.

The Favorite (odd of less than 10/1)

Nobody is going to confuse Marcos Ambrose with Jimmie Johnson when it comes to racing around an oval, but when it comes to road courses the former open-wheel racer is one of the best in the game. Driving the No.9 car, Ambrose finished seventh at Sonoma earlier in the year, which is the other road course on the Sprint Cup series schedule.

The main reason he is the odds-on-favorite to win this race at +400 is the fact that he comes in as the two-time defending champion and has never finished outside of the top three in five career Sprint Cup races at Watkins Glen. [ad-8757089]

The Contender (odds from 10/1 to 19/1)

Quite a few of the top Sprint Cup drivers come into this week’s race with longer odds given the nature of the course, but if you are looking for some solid value in the numbers take a close look at Kevin Harvick at +1500. He is having a great season racing the No.29 car with two victories and nine other top-10 finishes including one at Sonoma earlier this year.

The team is currently in fourth place in the Sprint Cup standings with 675 points. Harvick won this race in 2006 and finished sixth in both 2008 and 2011.

The Longshot (odds 20/1 or greater)

Martin Truex Jr. is having one of his better seasons in the Sprint Cup series with four top-five finishes that includes a victory on the road course at Sonoma in late June.

This win alone adds tremendous value to his +2000 odds to take the checkered flag again this Sunday.

Racing the No.56 car, Truex Jr. has also had his share of success on this road course. He has finished in the top 10 in four of his last six Sprint Cup races at Watkins Glen including a fourth-place finish in 2011 followed by a 10th-place finish in last year’s race.
