NASCAR 2015 Sprint Cup Futures Odds Update & Gambling Picks 8-28-2015

NASCAR 2015 Sprint Cup Betting

NASCAR Sprint Cup series takes a break this weekend to gear up for the final two point races at Darlington and Richmond before the start of this year’s Chase to the 2015 title. The 16 spots in this season’s Chase are just about locked-up and there are a couple of drivers with some solid value in Sportsbook.agSportsbook.ag futures odd to actually go on and win this year’s Sprint Cup title.

The following is a look at my top favorite, top contender and top longshot to make their way into this season’s Chase and keep winning all the way to the Championship Round at Miami-Homestead Speedway on Nov. 22.

The Favorite (odd of less than 10/1)

It would be hard not to go with last year’s champ Kevin Harvick at 4/1 betting odds to successfully defend his 2014 Sprint Cup title.

While he has not won a point race since March when he posted back-to-back victories at Las Vegas and Phoenix, he has guided the No. 4 car to an incredible 15 Top 3 finishes over the first 24 point races on the schedule.

This is the kind of consistency that wins championships, especially given the current format of the Chase that includes three elimination rounds leading up to the one-race championship round at Miami-Homestead.

The Contender (odds from 10/1 to 19/1)

Another driver that has been fairly consistent all season long is Dale Earnhardt Jr. His odds to keep things going in the Chase all the way to a title are set at 12/1.

The No. 88 race team has posted a pair of victories this season at Talladega and Daytona and it has added another nine finishes in the Top 5. The key to Dale Jr’s. chances to win this year’s title is a fast start in the Chase.

Last season he stumbled to three-straight finishes outside the Top 10 to get eliminated in the Contender Round.

It would really help his chances if he can post another win or two along the way.

The Longshot (odds 20/1 or greater)

I expected some big things from long-time NASCAR veteran Jeff Gordon in his final full season racing in the Sprint Cup series, but it has been a disappointing run so far with just three Top 5 finishes on the resume.

While he has yet to even officially qualify for the Chase after failing to win a race this year, I still think he might be saving his best for last as a 33/1 longshot to win it all.

The No. 24 team is currently sitting in 13th place in the Sprint Cup standings so Gordon still needs a pair of solid runs at Darlington next Sunday and at Richmond on Sept.

12 to assure a spot in the Chase, but what he really needs is a checkered flag to get the ball rolling towards a second career Sprint Cup title
