Two bitter NL West rivals square-off this Thursday night in the second of a two-game set when the San Francisco Giants take on the Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodgers Stadium. The first pitch is scheduled for 10:10 p.m. (ET) and the game will be available on MLB TV.
San Francisco is coming off back-to-back losses to Colorado including a 5-3 loss on Tuesday night as a 143 road underdog. The loss knocked the Giants out of first-place in the division and dropped their overall record to 22-19 on the year. They are 10-5 at home but 12-14 on the road. 
Madison Bumgarner will get the start for San Francisco in search of his first win of the year. He is 0-6 in eight previous starts with a 4.25 ERA and a WHIP of 1.42. Last time out he gave up five hits and three earned runs but struck out six in six innings of work against the Cubs. Bumgarner is 1-1 against the Dodgers with an ERA of 4.63.
Los Angeles is 5-5 in its last 10 games heading into this series and 20-23 overall. It posted a 3-0 shutout against Milwaukee on Tuesday night as a 111 home favorite to snap a three game skid. The Dodgers are 9-11 on the road this year and 11-12 at home.
Chad Billingsley will be on the mound for Los Angeles on Thursday. He is 2-3 with a 2.36 ERA in nine starts this year. This past Saturday he went eight full innings against Arizona; giving up just one hit and no earned runs but still got tagged with the loss. Lifetime against the Giants he is 7-3 with an ERA of 2.93.
Head-to-head, these two have already met seven times this season with the Dodgers holding a 4-3 edge overall and 3-1 edge at home. Four of the games have been decided by a run with each team coming away with two wins. The total has gone ‘over’ in four of the seven games. Stick with Billingsley and the Dodgers as this time around he gets the win with another strong outing.
