MLB Matchup Stats | MLB ATS Insider Preview

The Mets have really gotten hot of late. After a 4-6 start to the year, the team has gone 11-5 to move to within striking distance of the top spot in the National League East division. The team now looks to continue its roll in a tough place to play, losing three of four in their lone trip to Coors Field a year ago.

The team will send out Bartolo Colon in this one. His base numbers are inflated after getting lit up in Anaheim in his third start of the year, but he was good in the two starts before that, and has looked good in two starts since.

Colon surrendered just three earned runs in his first two starts, throwing 13 innings, striking out five and not walking a batter. Then, in Anaheim on April 13, Colon surrendered nine earned runs in five innings of work, giving up 11 hits and four home runs, walking two.

Since then, Colon has looked even better than he did in his first two starts. In his next start, he threw seven innings of three-run ball against the Braves. His most recent start was a gem, throwing seven innings of one-run ball in a win over the Cardinals, giving up just four hits.

Colon has walked only three batters through his first five starts as a Met, with two of those walks coming in that rough start in Anaheim.

He has made two career starts at Coors Field, posting a 5.40 ERA and 1.80 WHIP, while allowing opposing batters to hit for a .333 clip in those contests.

The Rockies counter with Juan Nicasio. He started strong, but has struggled in his last two starts. Nicasio led the Rockies to wins in each of his first three starts, but the team has lost each of his last two outings.

Nicasio surrendered five runs in each of his last two starts, failing to get beyond the fifth inning in either outing.

Colon looks dialed in right now, while Nicasio has been a gas can. The Rockies have certainly been strong at home this season, but they will be at a major disadvantage on the mound, and that should be too much for even their hot hitters.

The Mets are 4-0 in the last four meetings between these teams.

The play: New York -110
