Braves outfielder Justin Upton homered again on Tuesday, giving him home runs in each of the first two games in this series. He lost his power stroke for an extended stretch, and the Braves are surely happy to have seen him get past that drought. The team has had trouble scoring runs at times this season, so they’ll take offense from anywhere they can get it.

The Braves will send out Ervin Santana for this one. He came to the Braves to put up some solid numbers in hopes of earning a bigger contract a year from now, and he’s done just that so far, compiling a 2.76 ERA and 1.14 WHIP thus far.

His numbers looked even better prior to his last start. Santana took his first loss of the season in St. Louis, allowing the Cardinals to compile 10 hits and five earned runs in five innings of work. His ERA had been 1.99 prior to that outing.

Kyle Lohse counters for the Brewers. He’s having another strong year for Milwaukee, posting a 2.88 ERA with a 1.13 WHIP while compiling a 5-1 record through his first nine starts. His numbers receive a slight bump when away from Miller Park, up to a 3.52 ERA and 1.40 WHIP when pitching on the road. He got the win in his last start after three consecutive no decisions, throwing seven innings of three-run ball against the Cubs.

Lohse has made two starts against the Braves since joining the Brewers. In those two contests, he’s been terrific, striking out 13 in 16 innings of work, allowing just three runs and seven hits while walking two.

The Braves have been solid at home, and while Lohse will surely give them some trouble putting up runs, they’ve been able to handle their business at Turner Field. Santana will also be eager to get back into the win column in this one.

Additionally, both pitchers have been strong this season. With neither offense instilling much fear into opposing pitchers at the moment, we could be in for a pitcher’s duel in this one.

The Braves are 5-2 in Santana’s last seven starts, and they are 10-2 in the last 12 meetings between these teams in Atlanta.

The under is 16-5 in Lohse’s last 21 starts versus opponents with a winning record, and it is 6-1 in the last seven meetings between these teams.

The play: Atlanta -140, Milwaukee +130
