Baseball Betting: Yankees vs Tigers
As Baltimore fades the Yankees have gotten back into the thick of it in the American League East. They have won 6 of their last 8 even though they struggled at the beginning of the week with an equally resurgent Angels squad.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Yankees LH CC Sabathia (6-2, ERA 3.66) vs. Tigers LH Casey Crosby (2012 at Triple-A: 4-2, ERA 4.26).
New York
These teams have met for one series already this season – in the Bronx. The Yankees took two of three inducing Justin Verlander’s worst outing of the season.
There is almost no value on the Yankees in this one with ace lefty C.C. Sabathia squaring off against a rookie making his major league debut.
Sabathia is the most consistent winner in the American league and this year the Yankees are winning 70% of his starts.
He held Detroit to 2 runs over 8 innings back in April, striking out 8.
He did give up a homer though to one time teammate Prince Fielder. [dfads params=’groups=10&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]
Detroit
This year’s Tigers are very disappointing and inconsistent – save Verlander of course. Their visit to Boston was nearly a write off but they were able to win the 4th and final game behind the power of Delmon Young and the speed of rookie Quintin Berry, who is subbing for the injured Austin Jackson.
The duo of Fielder and Miguel Cabrera is playing well but I think below what the organization had expected.
Speaking of expectations, I don’t think the Tigers brass were expecting Casey Crosby to see much big league action this year – let alone kicking off a series against New York.
The big rookie hasn’t had an ERA below 4.00 in the minors since 2009 and walks too many batters.
With Doug Fister on the DL again and Drew Smyly already up with the club the Tigers didn’t have too many options. The offense could bail him out if they keep it close.
O/U Pick: over
Score Prediction: New York 8 – Detroit 3
