The Reds are riding a three-game losing skid and luckily won’t have to face Johnny Cueto, who they sent to the Royals last month, when the square off against a World Series bound Kansas City team that has won three in a row.
Reds
Cincinnati has dropped nine of 12, falling all the way to the bottom of the standings where they are trying stay just ahead of the Milwaukee Brewers and stay out of the cellar in the National League Central.

They are coming off three straight losses at the Los Angeles Dodgers to close out the weekend, where the team’ line bright spot has been first baseman Joey Votto, who is 11-for-23 during a six-game hitting streak.

Starting on the mound in Game 1 of the two-game interleague series beginning Tuesday, will be righty Raisel Iglesias (3-4, 4.70 ERA), who allowed three runs on as many hits while striking out eight in six innings to earn the win in his last outing at San Diego on Wednesday.
The 25-year-old rookie has only faced KC once back o n May 20, when he came out of the bullpen at Kansas City , giving up two runs on three hits and a walk in one inning.
Royals
Kansas City is running away with the American League Central, riding a 12-game lead in the division after capping off an 8-2 home stand with a walk-off win Sunday night.
The offense has been fueled by slugging first baseman Eric Hosmer, who is batting .417 with 26 RBIs in the last 29 games.
And while the Reds won’t see Cueto in this series, they will face another Dominican righty who used to pitch for the Reds — Edinson Volquez (11-7, 3.27 ERA).
The 32-year-old had gone seven straight allowing three or fewer earned runs until his last turn against Detroit on Wednesday.

Volquez, is 1-2 with a 4.84 ERA in six starts against his former team.
