Both teams come in on a high note as the Indians invade Pittsburgh for an inter league battle. Cleveland comes in fresh off a 4 game sweep of Tampa Bay Rays and the Pirates come home following a sweep in the Motor City.

Both teams used excellent pitching combined with timely hitting to grab the sweeps and will now look to carry that momentum through the holiday weekend.
Cleveland vs. Pittsburgh
The Indians held a team meeting Monday after being swept away in Baltimore and scoring 0 runs in two games on Sunday. Manager Terry Francona stressed the importance of getting everything together now. The Indians took that message in stride as they got 4 extremely ridiculous pitching performances, combined with the awakening of their offense. Wednesday was also nearly historical as Carlos Carrasco was one strike away from a no hitter.

With the starters feeding off one another, it’s Trevor Bauer’s turn to step up.
Bauer has been top notch on the road this season and has dominated the National League.
Bauer is 2-0 vs the NL and has a solid single to his name as he ripped a line drive to center field in his start at Chicago.
Bauer received no run support as he started one of their shutout games on Sunday in Baltimore last time out.
For the Pirates, they’ll send one of their most reliable pitchers to the mound, Charlie Morton. The Pirates RH brings in a 6-1 record on the season and has been dominant at home. Morton is 4-0 with just an ERA of 1.98 inside PNC Park.
With the All Star break just a week away, both teams look to gather some momentum and stay in the thick of things. Cleveland was looking like they were heading into a downward spiral following their series in Baltimore. But the resurgent Tribe now sits just 4.0 games out of a Wild Card and 8 games out of first place in the AL Central.

Pittsburgh holds the 2nd best record in the National League, but has the St. Louis Cardinals standing in their way for the NL Central Division lead.
