While the Boston lineup has been short on key contributors of late, with Dustin Pedroia on the disabled list with a hamstring injury, and Hanley Ramirez missing the team’s last four games with a bruised left hand.

Even still, the team has averaged 5.4 runs and batted .286 over its last 16 games. That run production hasn’t translated into wins, however, as the Red Sox have compiled a 7-9 record in that time.

Clay Buchholz gets the call Monday. He is 2-1 with a 1.82 ERA in his last five road starts. He’s won three straight decisions overall, allowing one earned run over 14 innings of work in winning each of his last two starts.

His last start against the Blue Jays wasn’t great as he allowed four runs in six innings in a 5-4 loss on June 13. That was part of a series sweep for the Blue Jays, who averaged 10.3 runs per game in that series.

The Jays send out R.A. Dickey, who has a 3.09 ERA over five starts in the month of June. He gave up three runs on eight hits, walking three in seven innings of work against the Tampa Bay Rays in his last outing.

Blue Jays middle infielder Ryan Goins has loved facing the Red Sox in his career. He went 6 for 14 with nine RBI in Toronto’s sweep of Boston earlier this month, and he is 9 for 19 in his career against Buchholz.

FREE Red Sox vs. Blue Jays Pick:

The Blue Jays have simply been the better team all season long and come into this one red hot. Both starting pitchers have been in good form, making the under worth a look as well.
