The San Francisco Giants will look to halt their six-game losing skid, when they host the New York Mets for Game 1 of a three-game series at AT&T Park on Monday night.

The Mets (42-41) meanwhile, hope history doesn’t repeat itself, as they get face  Giants’ pitcher Chris Heston for the second time this season.

Heston pitched a no-hitter last month versus New York, which after batting just .183 and averaging 1.8 runs during a 16-game stretch, tallied 15 hits in Sunday’s 8-0 win at Dodger Stadium.

However, New York dropped two of three to the Giants last month, but will get the chance to face a much different San Francisco team that is trying to avoid falling to .500 after coming off an 0-6 road trip, which included a 3-1 loss at Washington on Sunday.

The Mets have batted .200 in the past 13 meetings versus San Francisco (42-41), who will hope Heston can continue where he left off on Wednesday, allowing just three runs over six innings, despite a blown save from Santiago Casilla negating the win at Miami.

The 27-year-old right-hander has gone 2-1 with a 3.80 ERA in four starts since his no-hitter

New York will counter lefty Jonathan Niese who is in the midst of a career-worst losing streak.

The 28-year-old has  lost six straight decisions over his past five starts, but only allowed one run over seven innings in a 1-0 home loss to the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday.

He gave up four runs in seven innings in a no decision with the Giants on June 11, and is 1-1 with a 1.71 ERA in three career starts at AT&T Park.

Matt’s Free 4* MLB Prediction

Giants –  The Mets have played well as of late and the Giants just seem to keep getting worse.

However, I am going to out on a limb here and going with the home team in this one.

If there is one good reason for San Francisco to break out of its slump, a game with Niese on the mound could very well be it.
