Every time I write about the Detroit Tigers it is the same story – when are these guys finally start playing to their potential and take control in the AL Central?

It won’t take much. If they could put together 2 solid weeks back to back they would probably find themselves on top by a game or two.
Now there is more pressure on because the White Sox are making a push having acquired Kevin Youkilis over the weekend from Boston.
For Detroit it is going to be about pitching from here on our. Rooke Drew Smyly has been pretty effective but he was getting knocked around before going on the DL with a blister problem.
That is typical for a rookie but what is not is his preference for the road – where he has his only two wins. The team is winning 50 % of his starts but he has never pitched deeper than the 6th inning all season long.

Texas
The Angels are finally playing well but Texas still has a solid lead in the AL West and the best record in baseball as this is being written. It looks like the acquisition of pitcher Roy Oswalt is going to pay off which is good because the rotation was getting a little thin with all the injuries the team was suffering.
The Rangers are going to be sad to see the end of Interleague play as they wrapped up a MLB bets 14-4 record.
For a while there it was looking like Yu Darvish was going to be the hottest Japanese import since Pokemon.
His numbers are very good but he has known to have some clunkers now and again…just not really at home where he is 6-0 (team also 6-0). It seems that in the friendly confines he keeps his walks down avoiding the big innings that can kill an ERA and a wager.
Not a lot of value here with Texas as a result though.
