Brandon Belt clubbed his fifth home run of the young season and Tim Hudson tossed eight nearly perfect  innings as the Giants swung their way past the Dbacks’ in their home opener, 7-3 on Tuesday.

The Giants improved to 4-1 against the Diamondbacks this season, and have won five of their last six games to improve to 6-2 on the season.

San Francisco’s offense has been hot, as they’ve scored seven or more runs in four of their last five games, with four of Belt’s 2014 home runs having come against Arizona.

Meanwhile, the Diamondbacks fell to 2-8 on the season and have lost five of their last six games The pitching staff has really taken a beating during that span, allowing at least seven runs in four of their last five games.

Offensively, things haven’t been that much better, as the Dbacks’ lineup has produced an average of just three runs doing their last six contests, and were shut out by the Giants back on April 2, in Arizona.

The Giants will look to keep Arizona off the scoreboard again in this one, by sending Tim Lincecum to the mound for his second start of the season.

In Lincecum’s first start, he allowed eight hits and four runs in six innings of work.

The right-hander has struggled a bit, and has allowed three or more runs in four of his last six starts and is 8-8 with a 3.58 ERA in 24 career starts against the Diamondbacks.

In a pitching rematch of a 8-5 loss at Arizona earlier this season, the Diamondbacks will counter with  Bronson Arroyo, who allowed five hits and two runs in 4.1 innings in that one.

The righty will look to redeem himself here against a San Francisco team that he has had pretty good success against during  his career, racking up a 5-5 record with a 2.76 ERA in 15 starts.

Matt’s Free Prediction:

Giants

The Giants have been swatting the ball very well, but with Lincecum’s inconsistencies, I am going to play it safe here and go with the total here, which I expect will stay under the projected number.
