Breeders’ Cup – Pick 3 Wagering Strategy – Races 5 Through 7

The second leg of the Pick 3 Races 5 through 7 in Breeders’ Cup Day is the second running of the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf.

For online racebook fans, finding a winner in this race is not going to be easy. After all, there are some horses coming from Europe that look like they have great form. There are also some horses coming out of dirt and artificial surface races that look to be in terrific form.

What do online betting fans do? They go deep in that leg and use less horses in the other legs.

Let’s get to it!

Race 5 – – Breeders’ Cup Juvenile

We have to be careful in this spot. On paper it appears that there are a lot of two year olds that could win this. But look closer and our choice is simple. We go one deep in this race with Square Eddie at 9/2. The track has been playing towards horses that can close from the outside. That’s Square Eddie. He’s our key horse in this Pick 3.

Race 6 – – Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf

We have to go at least five deep in this race. It’s a crazy race with a ton of talented horses coming from all sorts of tracks and different countries. Let’s go with Aidan O’Brien’s Westphalia (5/1), the John Gosden trained Donativum (6/1), the very tough Skiapadate (10/1), the likely chalk Bittel Road (7/2) and Skipadate’s arch rival, Grand Adventure (5/1). Skipadate is my top choice, but I can’t key him in such a difficult leg of the Pick 3.

Race 7 – – Breeders’ Cup Sprint

I was set on Cost of Freedom, but then he got the one hole. That’s the worst place for Cost of Freedom to break from. He’s still good enough for us to use, but we can’t get too crazy and go too deep in this. We’ll stick to four horses. Let’s go with Cost of Freedom (4/1), Fabulous Strike (4/1), Midnight Lute (7/2) and Fatal Bullet (6/1). Fatal Bullet is my top choice because of the draw, he’s breaking from the nine hole, but I do believe that Fabulous Strike and Midnight Lute are logical contenders. I’m leaving out the chalk, Street Boss, because I believe he will be too far off the pace in this.

Total Investment for $1 Pick 3 – – $20

Good Luck!
