Betting On Wisconsin vs. Michigan

NCAA Week Five Football Betting – Wisconsin Badgers vs. Michigan Wolverines

Online sportsbook customers and NCAA football betting sharps have an exciting opportunity to cash in on some Big Ten football this weekend. Michigan Wolverines games are some of the most popular games in the online sports wagering community, and this one will certainly be no different.

One thing that needs to change, however, is the Wolverines way of handling their new offensive system! New head coach Rich Rodriguez introduced the spread offense to Ann Arbour, and thus far it has been a painful learning process to watch, climaxing with an embarrassing loss to rival Notre Dame. The Wolverines surrendered a whopping 21 points in the first half to a mediocre Irish squad. Steven Threet threw for just 175 yards before getting yanked, only to be replaced by Nick Sheridan, who tossed up two interceptions.

For a young team such as this to win games, they need to be much more efficient and careful with the ball. In fact, the very point of the spread offense is to do just that—control the game with short, accurate passes. Wisconsin however, is the very model of efficient football, with a solid run game and a stellar defense. The Badgers quietly posted a 31-8 record between 2005 and 2007, and continue to get no respect in the NCAA football betting community, as seen in this week’s NCAA football odds that have them listed as just three point favorites.

Some of the oddsmakers’ skepticism may have something to do with the fact that Wisconsin has lost four in a row to Michigan. But this is a completely different Wolverines squad, with only one senior on the offensive side of the ball! Moreover, this Badgers team looks better every day, going 3-0 to start the 2008 season.

The pick:

Again, these are very generous NCAA football odds, and present a great chance for value to the BetUS customers. Michigan has beaten Wisconsin in seven of their last nine meetings, but the Wolverines have shown that they’re in full-out rebuilding mode this season. P.J. Hill, who ran for 112 yards last week, should pick apart the Michigan defensive line, and contrarily, the Badger’s D-line will likely put more pressure on Steven Threet than he can handle.

This NCAA football line just isn’t wide enough—take Wisconsin plus the points, and on the moneyline if you’re feeling super-lucky this week. It’s gonna be a long year in The Big House.
