NFL Betting Action High Flying Jets Visit Undefeated Titans

The New York Jets, (7-3, 6-4 ATS, 5-4-1 O/U) are coming off a thrilling overtime win against the new England Patriots th4eir last time out. The Tennessee Titans, (10-0, 9-0-1 ATS, 4-6 O/U) just keep rolling along, beating the Jacksonville Jaguars 24-14 on Sunday to move to a perfect 10-0.

Both AFC teams will be trying to pick up a win on Sunday when they battle at LP Field.

Brett Favre completed 26-of-33 pass attempts for 258 yards with a pair of touchdowns and veteran running back Thomas Jones put up another 100-yard rushing game, carrying a whopping 30 times for 104 tough yards and one touchdown.

“I was nervous as heck” heading into overtime, Favre said. “I said, `Why can’t we make this easy?’ But it’s what I’m capable of doing. This one ranks right up there near the top.”

Despite giving up 400 passing yards and another 62 rushing yards to Patriots quarterback Matt Cassel, the Jets managed to win the game and cover as 3-point road underdogs for NFL sports betting backers with Favre engineering a great opening drive that set up kicker Jay Feely nicely as he booted a 34-yard game-winner to put the Pats away.

“It’s a great, great feeling for us,” Jets coach Eric Mangini said. “Everybody understands that this game was extremely important, and it’s important because it allows us to make the next game (against Tennessee) extremely important. It’s a really positive step for our team.”

The Titans defeated Jacksonville 24-14 as a 3-point favorite in Week 11 as veteran quarterback Kerry Collins completed 13 of 23 passes for 230 yards with three touchdowns. Jacksonville’s ‘Thunder and Lightning’ rushing attack featuring LenDale White and explosive rookie Chris Johnson, saw the back rush for 52 and 64 yards with no touchdowns respectively.

“It’s great,” defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth said. “People keep counting us out and we like proving the world wrong, I guess.”

Wide receiver Justin Gage caught four passes for 147 yards and two touchdowns in the win.

“It’s tough for defenses to stop us,” Gage said. “A lot of people say we can’t do this. We can win and we like to prove them wrong.”

Analysis: I like the way the Jets are playing and certainly what Favre brings to the table for their franchise, but I just don’t see them winning this game on the road against a Titans team that has the bases covered in all three areas –offense, defense and special teams.

Simply put, take the Titans to win another game, though I suspect the Jets will make it interesting in covering the spread.
