Week 7 NFL Totals Betting Analysis

NFL Week 7 Totals Analysis

Points were plentiful again this week as seven games went over the total, five games stayed under while one game; San Diego @ Kansas City was a push at 44. Two games; Indy @ St.Louis and Philly @ Washington went over on meaningless touchdowns late in the 4th quarter and one game almost doubled the total line as New Orleans and Miami put up 80 points between them.

Handicapping The 2009 World Series

The five most recent World Series have lasted only 22 games combined — three sweeps and two that ended with Game 5.

In this year’s World Series, which opens today, the Yankees have been installed as a favorite of about 2-1 on the series line. Oddsmakers are asking bettors to lay a fairly steep price with New York against a Philadelphia team coming off an impressive showing in the National League Championship Series in which it handled the Dodgers as a small series underdog.

Bad Beats: Tough to recover from Dolphin debacle

Ben Burns

Whether you won or lost, the Saints’ remarkable cover against Miami is the type of game that messes with your mind. It lingers and affects the way you bet for weeks.

If you had the Dolphins plus 6, you’re heartbroken and have lost a lot of confidence. If you had the Saints, you’re probably a little bit over-confident. How you react in coming weeks could be the difference of a winning season and a losing one.

Week 8 NCAA Football Handicapping Matchups

Week 8 – College Football Picks

So the first BCS standings of 2009 have been released and to no one’s surprise, the Florida Gators—+125 to win this season’s BCS championship at most online sportsbooks—are Kings of the college football hill followed by the Alabama Crimson Tide in the two-spot.

Strangely enough though, Florida dropped to No. 2, trumped by ‘Bama in the Associated Press poll but football fans in “The Swamp” probably don’t care, as their team is tops in the more prestigious poll.

NFL Week 7 Handicapping Tips

NFL Week 7 Match Ups

The game of the week has the unbeaten 6-0 Minnesota Vikings traveling to Pittsburgh to take on the 4-2 Steelers. This will be the first true test for Brett Favre and Co. outside the friendly confines of the Metrodome. Some other big games this week are Chicago @ Cincinnati, Arizona @ N.Y. Giants, and Atlanta @ Dallas.

Here is a brief look at all the match ups with some keys to the game.

Here we are a week before the great pumpkin makes its anual appearance, and our ever shrinking list of unbeatens has dropped to just 7. It offers hope for 1 loss teams, as this list shrinks, the opportunity to play in the title game becomes more and more of a reality with each passing week.

Week 6 NFL Totals Betting Analysis

NFL Week 6 Totals Analysis

With the Denver-San Diego game going over on Monday night there was a perfect balance in the totals betting with seven games staying under and seven games going over. The biggest shocker had to be Philadelphia@ Oakland which had a total of 40.5 and there only 22 combined points as the Eagles were held to three field goals. The next had to be the Saints pinning 48 points on the Giants’ #1 defense in a game where the total was 48.

Bad Beats: How do you blow a coverage when you are in basically your Hail Mary defense?

Ben Burns

Ask the Washington Huskies.

With 13 seconds to play in a tie game with Arizona State, the Huskies allowed not one but two Sun Devil receivers to get behind their defensive backs deep. Arizona State quarterback Danny Sullivan simply dropped back and heaved a 50-yard winning touchdown pass to a wide-open Chris McGaha.

Weekend Football Betting: Rivalry Matchups

NCAA Rivalry Games

Does any sports do “rivalry” games better than college football…the Red Sox and Yankees might have a say, and Duke-North Carolina in college hoops…but there is something magical about these big rivalry games in the fall that, to me, anyway, supersede the others.

A prime example is on display this weekend at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, when the 2009 edition of the Red River Rivalry kicks off.

NFL Week 6 Match Ups

In the NFC the game of the week is the 5-0 N.Y. Giants @ 5-0 New Orleans Saints, while over in the AFC the Broncos try and make it six in a row when they visit San Diego on Monday night. If Denver finds a way to win, it would give them a 3 ½ game lead in the AFC West.

Here is a brief look at all the match ups with some keys to the game.

Here we are barely midway through October, and the list of unbeaten teams in NCAAF has shrunk to 9, and with Cincinnati visiting S. Florida this week, there will be at least one more missing from the list come next week, and several teams don’t have easy games, so I will not be surprised if the list grows even shorter.

Let’s take a look at this week’s games featuring the unbeatens.

Week 5 NFL Totals Betting Analysis

NFL Week 5 Totals Analysis

For the second week in a row the over was the best play as eight games went over the total, five stayed under, and there was one push Washington @ Carolina at 37. For the most part the games stayed close to the total line either way as after five weeks the odds makers have fine tuned the numbers.

Bad Beats: Ego check for Ray Lewis and Brandon Meriweather

Ben Burns
Ben Burns

Maybe we were bullied too much on the playground, but puffed-up egos really piss us off here at Bad Beats Central.

Losing a bet because someone can’t keep their ego in check and feels the need taunt or excessively celebrate is infuriating.

Take Ray Lewis for instance. Does anyone in the NFL not know this guy is a hard-hitting, physical bad ass?

Football Betting: NCAA and NFL Previews

Baseball is grabbing a little of the spotlight, but it’s still football that still takes center stage in October.

NCAA Previews:

A marquee matchup in college football is set for Saturday evening when the No. 1 Florida Gators head to Baton Rouge to play the No. 4 LSU Tigers. Online sportsbooks have the nation’s consensus top team favored by 7.5-points with a Total of 46.

Last year I started a weekly series on NCAAF Title Cahsers. This is an early look at what lies ahead for those coveting the National Title. The pool of unbeaten teams has been pared down to 13, and amongst that pool are 2 potential BCS busters in Boise St. (5-0), and TCU (4-0). Here is a look at what lies ahead for these unbeaten teams.
